PGA DFS Tournament Breakdown: Arnold Palmer Invitational

Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS tournament picks in various price ranges on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back, PGA DFS grinders! The golf season motors on with a great tune-up for THE PLAYERS on tap. This week, we head to Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and we have a very strong field assembled given its status as a Signature Event. This is our third signature event in the past month, which is a bit crazy.
Bay Hill is another challenging course that rarely sees a lot of golfers get into the double digits under par for the week. It is a par 72 that has plenty of trouble lurking to punish poor shots. Most of the scoring will be done on the par 5s, and we do have 4 of them at this course. All of those measure under 600 yards, and they are generally the easiest holes on the course. Limiting damage will be the key on the remaining holes. For most of the golfers, this course is usually a matter of “hanging on” with the other holes and scoring as much as possible on the par 5s. It’s rare to see a par 72 layout play so difficult, but that’s the case with Bay Hill.
As is usually the case with challenging courses, this is a traditional ball striker’s layout. Elite tee-to-green game will be very important, particularly if winds pick up like they often do in this part of the country. Scrambling and Par-5 Scoring will be the other metrics I look at closely, but you simply have to be good at everything in order to win here. You can’t hide a weakness at Bay Hill. Given its status as a Signature Event, this tournament has a limited field of 72 golfers, though the field will be cut to the top 50 and ties (plus any golfer within 10 strokes of the lead) after Round 2.
Let’s dive in to some of my favorite GPP options!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Tournament Breakdown for the Arnold Palmer Invitational
Rory McIlroy
DraftKings: $11,600
FanDuel: $13,200

We’re at the point where I am officially concerned with the slow starts from Scottie Scheffler, especially at the salary cost he commands right now. I don’t fault you if you want to play him with his past success here (and everywhere), but I’ll pivot to McIlroy for significant savings. Rory has 6 career top 10s and a win at this course in his own right, and it is only a matter of time before the irons get dialed in. I am going to bank on this being that week, especially given his runner-up finish in his last start with 4 very solid rounds. He’s my official pick to win this week.
