PGA DFS Tournament Breakdown: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS tournament picks in various price ranges on DraftKings and FanDuel for the WM Phoenix Open. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back, PGA Grinders! With the NFL season now behind us, golf will garner a bigger spotlight on the sports calendar. The timing is perfect, as we have some big tournaments coming up over the next few months. We have large DFS prize pools available for the first signature event of the year, which is also the second of the annual Pro-Am events at the legendary Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Like the American Express and Farmers Insurance Opens over the last month, we have a course rotation in the mix again. Pebble Beach will be the host course, while each golfer will also play a round on Spyglass Hill over the first two days. Pebble Beach will host the final two rounds for all the golfers. It is also expected to be windy come the weekend, and Pebble Beach is a course that is exposed and plays MUCH more difficult when conditions worsen.
While both of these courses are par-72 layouts, both are on the shorter side from a length perspective, and we don’t need to prioritize distance at this event. The key will be a combination of strong approach play and comfort on poa annua green surfaces, which can get bumpy and challenging. I will be looking almost exclusively at ball striking, approach play, and short game this week, with short game taking an even bigger place in my wish list if weather forecasts end up calling for higher winds on the weekend. We see strong short iron and wedge players succeed here almost every year, and scrambling is always key. Pebble Beach has some of the smallest greens in the world, and with three of the four rounds are being played there, scrambling takes on more importance. Throw in some wind and rain, and it could get chaotic!
Let’s move along and look at some of my favorite GPP options for this event!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Tournament Breakdown for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
Scottie Scheffler
DraftKings: $14,000
FanDuel: $15,600

Scottie Scheffler doesn’t often find himself in my GPP articles simply because it seems like he’s always wildly priced and/or wildly owned. The wildly priced element hasn’t changed, but Scheffler is projecting for a lot lower ownership than usual, especially when you factor in the smaller field size this week. I’m not really sure why this is the case, but I’ll gladly take Scheffler as a starting point this week. While Pebble Beach limits one of his bigger weapons in the driver, Scheffler’s short game is also light years better than it used to be. He has a 6th-place and a 9th-place finish here over the last 2 years, and while that’s not Scheffler-like, it’s still a ridiculous floor. You know he’ll be motivated after Rory McIlroy won here last year, and I think Scheffler gets back on the winning track. He finished 3rd last week despite a terrible opening round, and his game is just on another level right now.
