PGA DFS Tournament Breakdown: THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson

Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS tournament picks in various price ranges on DraftKings & FanDuel for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back, PGA DFS grinders! We finally have a “normal’ PGA TOUR event on the schedule this week. There’s no elevated event. There’s no major. It’s just… a regular event with a cut. That feels good to write for once, even if it is a weak-field tournament.
As for the full-field event, we have THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson on the schedule. While the field may be weak and the course may be boring, I am not complaining about any full-field event with a cut right now. The cut sweat is one of the best parts of DFS golf. In addition, there’s a chance that this event may be a little more fun this year. The winning score at TPC Craig Ranch has been -23 or better in each of the 5 tournaments played here, and a complete renovation was done after Scottie Scheffler won at -31 last year.
The redesigned course is actually about 150 yards SHORTER on the scorecard than what we saw last year, but the primary added defense will come with new green complexes and some added bunkers. I still don’t think it will be enough to make this course play difficult on the whole, but maybe it will be more of a test than the drive, wedge, and putt contest it was before the renovations. I am mainly targeting the golfers with good current form, ball striking, and scoring ability on this par 71.
Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP options!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Tournament Breakdown for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson
Si Woo Kim
DraftKings: $9,900
FanDuel: $11,900

You can certainly play Scottie Scheffler this week if you want to. As of the time I am writing this, Scheffler sits at +170 odds to win on FanDuel and DraftKings. I haven’t seen odds like that since Tiger Woods was in his prime. That is a crazy number. However, I have my concerns given that Scheffler is priced at a huge premium, and I am not sure what his motivation level will be the week after a major. This tournament has been shifted on the schedule, and perhaps Scheffler is only showing up out of obligation as the defending champ. Still, this is a weak field, and even a disinterested Scheffler could easily win. I’ll pivot to Si Woo Kim as my favorite GPP play. He’s quite a bit more affordable than Scheffler, and he’s having a strong 2026 season in his own right with no missed cuts all year. Over the last 36 rounds, Kim ranks 2nd in this field in total strokes gained and 2nd in tee-to-green play, just behind Scheffler in both. He is elite in every metric except for putting, and he should improve with the putter long term. It’s remarkable that his season has been as good as it has with the putter scuffling a bit, and that’s even more reason for him to suggest more upside going forward.
