PGA DFS Tournament Breakdown: Texas Children's Houston Open

Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS tournament picks in various price ranges on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Texas Children’s Houston Open. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back to the PGA DFS GPP breakdown! We have the Texas Children’s Houston Open on the calendar this week. The name has changed a lot over the years, and the date has even changed as well. For a few years, this tournament was contested in the fall, and then there was no Houston Open held in calendar year 2023. However, it has now been nestled back into its usual home before the Masters in April.
Memorial Park Golf Course will host for the sixth time. While the course is a municipal, public layout, don’t let that fool you. It is one that still represents a challenge for these PGA TOUR pros. While it plays as a Par 72 for local members, it operates as a Par 70 for the PGA TOUR. The scorecard consists of 3 par 5s, 5 par 3s, and 10 par 4s, which is similar to what we saw a week ago at the Valspar. As such, par 3 scoring takes on a little more importance.
The par 4s are a mix of longer holes combined with a couple that could be set up to be driveable at least once. Long iron play takes on added importance with 3 of the par 4s sitting at 490+ yards and 3 of the par 3s sitting at 200+ yards on the scorecard. That makes for 6 holes where a long iron shot will be needed for most of the golfers.
We have also seen that distance off the tee can be a big benefit at Memorial Park over the past several years, as setting up an approach shot that is 30-40 yards closer does have quite an advantage on this course. I will be looking at total driving, distance, and good drive percentage with some of my picks. This is not a course where you can simply hit it anywhere you want off the tee and be able to get away with it. Given that this course is generally challenging, I also will prioritize bogey avoidance and scrambling, while current form and course history are a strong positive. As with many of the more difficult courses, you have to be good at everything to succeed here!
Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP picks for this week!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Tournament Breakdown for the Texas Children’s Houston Open
Chris Gotterup
DraftKings: $9,800
FanDuel: $11,800

After a blitz to start the 2026 calendar year, we did see Gotterup cool off a bit during the Florida swing. However, many of those courses aren’t quite suited to his game. He should feel more at home at Memorial Park on a course where he can really take advantage of using the driver. Over the last 36 rounds, Gotterup leads this field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee. He has made the cut in each of his two previous visits, and he’s largely the betting favorite now that Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn. That really changes the complexion of this tournament, and it makes Gotterup feel quite underpriced at under $10,000 on DK and under $12,000 on FD. He’s my favorite starting point for GPP rosters.
