PGA DFS Tournament Breakdown: FedEx St. Jude Championship

Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS tournament picks in various price ranges on DraftKings & FanDuel for the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back, PGA DFS Grinders! This week brings us the FedEx St. Jude Championship as the first playoff event, and it will be held at TPC Southwind in Memphis. TPC Southwind has settled in as the usual host for the playoff opener after being rotated around the regular schedule and the WGC schedule back when those events were on the calendar. It’s nice to see it have a regular home, even if it does seem questionable for the PGA TOUR to host an annual event in Memphis in the August heat.
One constant has remained over the years, and that is that TPC Southwind can still present a difficult test. Over the last 16 PGA TOUR events held here, only one winner has finished with a score better than -17. A few winning scores have been around the -10 mark. This is even more remarkable now that this venue is usually hosting only the top golfers on the PGA TOUR as a playoff event. There are no super easy holes on this course, and water awaits on more than half of the holes to punish errant shots. As we often see on tracks like this, good ball striking is paramount to success. We have another par-70 course with just a pair of par 5s, so I will lean on some par-4 scoring metrics as well.
Given the playoff format changes over the past few years, we only have 70 golfers competing in this event. Daniel Berger is not participating due to a back injury, so we have a final field of 69 golfers. The top 50 in the standings following this week will advance to next week’s BMW Championship, and there will not be a cut this week. That means every golfer will get to play all 4 rounds regardless of his place on the leaderboard. This will lead more people toward building stars-and-scrubs builds.
Let’s dive in and discuss some of my favorite tournament picks for the week!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Tournament Breakdown for the FedEx St. Jude Championship
Matthew Fitzpatrick
DraftKings: $9,900
FanDuel: $11,100

Fitzpatrick has rested since he missed the cut at The Open Championship a month ago, but I am certainly not holding that against him. That was his only missed cut of 2026 to date. He has played fantastic golf all year, and he had posted 3 top-5 finishes in his previous 4 starts prior to that. He has 13 top-25 finishes in 18 starts. He has a trio of top-5 finishes at TPC Southwind in the past, so he is no stranger to playing well at this venue. He ranks 2nd only to Scottie Scheffler in total strokes gained over the last 36 rounds, and he ranks 3rd on approach and 2nd around the green. There is no weakness in his game, and I am fine starting any lineup build with Fitzpatrick.
