Welcome back to the PGA Tournament Breakdown article! We have the Rocket Classic on tap for this week, and this won’t be the same Rocket Classic we have seen for the last several years. With the winning score getting to -18 or better in each of the first 6 editions and several years with the winner getting into the -25 range, Detroit Golf Club became known as a pushover of a golf course. As such, the venue was heavily renovated after last year’s tournament. The primary goal of this was to improve drainage around the course, but the overall theme was also to make it more difficult. The course will also play as a long par 70 now as opposed to a par 72, as one par 5 hole on the front side and one par 5 hole on the back side of the course were converted into long par 4s. Naturally, this means that the winning score will be 8 shots worse than if the course had stayed as a par 72. Par is just a number, folks!

The complete renovation of the course was also a bit odd in terms of timing, as the PGA TOUR has already announced that this will be the final year for the Rocket Classic. So long, Detroit Golf Club… it was fun while it lasted.

In any case, we have one last blast with this year’s version of the Rocket Classic. We have a surprisingly strong field assembled, especially when compared to last week’s 3M Open. Bombers do have an edge on this course if they can keep it in the fairway, so I will target bombers who also have good accuracy, making total driving my favorite statistical metric alongside the traditional ball striking stats.

Let’s dive in and see what the final edition of the Rocket Classic has for DFS options!

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Tournament Breakdown for the Rocket Classic

Chris Gotterup
DraftKings: $9,800
FanDuel: $12,100

PGA TOUR Golfer Chris Gotterup

As a fan since he first came onto the PGA TOUR, it has been an absolute joy to see Chris Gotterup surge up leaderboards this year. His win at the John Deere Classic was his 3rd victory of 2026, and he’s added a couple of top 5s onto that as well. He finished inside the top 20 at both events over in Europe (the Scottish Open and Open Championship), which is very impressive for a golfer who certainly isn’t considered a links specialist. Over the last 36 rounds, he ranks 4th in this field in Strokes Gained: Total, 6th in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, and 9th in ball striking. We know he has the confidence to close out tournaments, and his distance gives him a nice edge at this course. He has made the cut all 3 times he has played at this event, and he’s in even better form this time around. He’s my pick to win.
