PGA DFS Value Plays: John Deere Classic
Micah Bedard (Darddog) is here to pinpoint the best PGA DFS salary savers for this week’s John Deere Classic.
It’s been a long time coming for Rickie Fowler, but he finally got his first win since February of 2019 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last weekend. He’s been playing golf all season, so it was great to see him get rewarded after a tough stretch for a few years.
This week we get TPC Deere Run and the John Deere Classic before everyone jumps across the pond next week. It’s usually a birdie-fest, and it seems like someone catches fire out of nowhere to take it down. Michael Kim won in 2018, and I don’t think he was even in the big GPP winning lineup.
A lot of the approach shots are from 125-175 yards, so I will be targeting guys who are good with their mid-irons. It’s also an extremely weak field. I wrote up Denny McCarthy and Russell Henley in this article for the U.S. Open, and they are the two highest priced golfers in this field. So I wouldn’t get too hung up on guys being priced extremely high compared to what they normally are or using the entire salary cap this week.
Let’s get into some PGA DFS value plays under $7,500 on DK and $9,000 on FD to give your lineups an edge this week at the John Deere Classic.
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Value Plays for the John Deere Classic
Zach Johnson
DraftKings: $7,100
FanDuel: $8,900
How could I write up value plays for the Zach Johnson Open and not highlight the Mayor of TPC Deere Run? ZJ has not missed a cut here since 2009. He also possesses some upside, as he’s finished T-5 or better in five of his last 10 appearances. For his price, I think he gives you a lot of safety on a course he’s obviously very comfortable at. I’d fire him up in all formats this week.
