PGA DFS Value Plays: Mexico Open
Micah Bedard (Darddog) is here to pinpoint the best salary savers for this weekend’s Mexico Open tournament.
Don’t ask me about how my DFS lineups went at the Zurich Classic, as I had a 6/6 in my SE and still found a way to only double my winnings. It wasn’t a banner week for the value picks either as only 2 of my picks made the cut, with Matthias Schwab and Vincent Norrman the best finish at T-9.
There was a lot of variance to be had with a team event, so I’m not too worried about it. Speaking of variance, we move onto the Jon Rahm, I mean Mexico Open in Vidanta Vallarta. The field is basically a glorified alternate-event with Rahm and Tony Finau headlining. Rahm should honestly be priced at $15,000 so you would have to make an actual decision to play him or not.
This is a long, resort course that’s almost 7,500 yards and has 5 par-3’s that are all over 170 yards. So you will not only need distance OTT, but a great long iron game as well.
This article will help you identify some value options on DK (below $7,500) and FD (below $9,000) when you have to figure out who else to fit into your lineups after you lock Rahm in all of them!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Value Plays for the Zurich Classic
Akshay Bhatia
DraftKings: $7,400
FanDuel: $9,000
Bhatia missed the cut on the number last week with Harry Hall in New Orleans. The week before that, he was dreadful in Hilton Head, losing almost 3 strokes combined ARG/Putting. This week he gets to return to a resort style course that he’s had success on. He was T-2 at the Puerto Rico Open and T-24 in Corales. He also finished T-4 and T-7 in back-to-back events in the Bahamas earlier this season. I’m a big believer in his talent. In this field, I think he’s a bit too cheap. I would probably pay for him even if he was in the 8K’s.
