PGA DFS Value Plays: PGA Championship
Micah Bedard (Darddog) is here to pinpoint the best salary savers for this weekend’s PGA Championship.
It was a nice bounce-back week for the values last week at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Four of my five picks made the cut. All of them finished inside T-30, and my main man Vincent Norrman continued his heater with a T-8.
Let’s keep the momentum rolling into this week at the PGA Championship!
This major doesn’t get the hype that the other three do, in my opinion, but it’s growing on me. The move to May has made it more of a challenge, and I am definitely a fan of the carnage.
This year’s host is Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. It’s been redesigned since Jason Dufner won his first and only major here back in 2013. This course is going to play brutal!
There are only two par 5’s, each 600+ yards. Seven of the par 4’s are over 460 yards, and two of the par 3’s are more than 230 yards. The fairways are firm and fast, the rough is brutal, and the greens are tiny. Sign me up! (Well not to play, y’all would not want to see that)
As with most majors, pricing is softer, so you should be able to build any team your little heart desires. But if you want to jam in Jon Rahm or Scottie Scheffler, you’re going to need some low-priced gems to set yourself apart.
This article will help you identify some value options on DK (below $7,500) and FD (below $9,000) to help fill out your lineups this week for the second major of the season!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Value Plays for the PGA Championship
Denny McCarthy
DraftKings: $7,400
FanDuel: $8,100
I highlighted Mr. McPutts back at RBC Heritage and he didn’t disappoint, finishing T-25. In fact, it started off a great run for Denny, with a T-11 at Zurich and T-8 last time out at Wells Fargo. A big thing for me is he got back to how he got his namesake, gaining 2.2 strokes putting at Quail Hollow. A main theme of this article will be scrambling and saving par, and not surprisingly, McCarthy is good at both. He’s made the cut in his only three appearances at the PGA Championship. Although, no finishes have been stellar (T-48, T-59, T-58). I think he’s a better overall golfer now than he has been at any point in his career. His price on FD is just too cheap.
