PGA DFS Value Plays: Rocket Mortgage Classic
Micah Bedard (Darddog) is here to pinpoint the best PGA DFS salary savers for this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.
We were so close to having one of the value plays take down a tournament. Alas, Chez Reavie could not close the deal, as he shot +1 on Sunday and Keegan Bradley ran away with the Travelers by three shots.
It was a great week for the value plays though, as Chez finished T-4 and Austin Eckroat and Aaron Rai finished T-24.
This week, we move to the Detroit Golf Club that is hosting the Rocket Mortgage Classic for the fifth time. I’ll be honest, this stretch of Rocket Mortgage and John Deere is definitely not my favorite on tour. This is usually a birdie-fest, and I expect nothing different with some wet conditions in Detroit leading up to the tournament.
If you’ve listened to any content this week, you’ve probably heard that you need to target the “bomber” narrative here. While I don’t disagree that distance will be helpful at Detroit GC, it’s not a prerequisite to success. I just want guys who who make birdies – period. I don’t care how they make them.
Because of that, I think you can get some lower-owned guys just because they don’t hit the ball the farthest.
Let’s get into some value plays under $7,500 on DK and $9,000 on FD to give your lineups an edge this week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Value Plays for the Rocket Mortgage Classic
Thomas Detry
DraftKings: $7,400
FanDuel: $8,700
I love targeting Detry at birdie track setups. He’s a great player, just a little on the volatile side. There’s not too much trouble he can get into at Detroit GC (hopefully), and I think he rebounds from a MC last week at Travelers. It was a bit of an outlier performance, as he lost strokes on approach and putting and needed two more shots to play the weekend. Before that MC, he had made five straight cuts. He makes a lot of birdies, and I think he gets back on track this week at Rocket Mortgage.
