PGA DFS Value Plays: Zurich Classic

Micah Bedard (Darddog) is here to pinpoint the best salary savers for this weekend’s Zurich Classic tournament.

I was a bit skeptical of having the RBC Heritage as an elevated event just a week after The Masters, but boy did it not disappoint.

Matt Fitzpatrick out-dueled Jordan Spieth in a playoff at one of his favorite courses (you guys didn’t play the lighthouse headcover narrative?) to take home his second PGA Tour victory.

It was another solid week for the value plays as we went 4/6 in making the cut. One of those MC was J.T. Poston, probably my most confident play, who lost almost 2 strokes on approach while hitting every fairway and falling short of the cut by one shot. I’m not tilting, you are.

On the bright side, Hayden Buckley finished T-5 and Denny McPutts snuck inside the T-25 as well. I was all set to victory lap Aaron Rai after he held the first round lead, but alas a rough Sunday had him finish T-48.

This week presents a unique team format at the Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana. As expected, since this tournament went to the team format in 2017, you’ve seen a ton of birdies and an average winning score of nearly -25.

There’s really one game theory question of the week: What are you doing with Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele?

The OWGR No. 4 and 5 players won this event last year, and shockingly finished 3rd and 4th last weekend. The only real reason is to fade them here, as DK didn’t price them at a ridiculous number as they should have. I do expect them to carry some heavy ownership, so you need to keep that in mind when constructing your teams.

This article will help you identify some value options on DK (below $7,500) if you’re going to plug X/Cantlay and call it a day!
