There are quite a few names that got off to slow starts in the first round, but I ultimately expect the cream to rise to the top like we’ve seen over the last two events. Given the calm wind in the morning and double-digits winds in the afternoon, we expected the morning wave to have an easier go of things in the first round. That certainly came to fruition, as the course played nearly a stroke easier in the morning. With a similar forecast for Friday, I expect a similar results. For the picks, I will focus most on my favorite early targets, but will also give a late target and a couple gut plays that don’t exactly stand out in the projections. While I typically go with a stars in scrubs approach in showdown, I like the balanced build for round two.
