I can’t seem to crack the code in PGA DFS right now. I tend to run hot and cold in the sport, so hopefully we can cook up a Sunday sweat. The picks yesterday really struggled, highlighted by Shane Lowry shooting one of the worst rounds of the day. For the final round contests, finishing position will earn fantasy points. This naturally makes everyone gravitate toward the top of the leaderboard. While you will need the winner and likely a few others in the top five in order to take down a tournament, I always like to mix in talented golfers that aren’t in contention. For one, their ownership tends to be a lot lower than it would be in any other round. And two, the difference between finishing points for eighth and 50th is equivalent to one birdie.
Due to inclement weather on Saturday, the PGA Tour decided to use split tees with threesomes in order to get the full round in before it started to rain. This meant that all golfers teed off within two hours and that the leaders teed off at the same time as those at the very bottom of the leaderboard. That won’t be the case on Sunday. Golfers will play in groups of two and will go out in order of their current position. There is a five and a half hour gap between the first and last tee time. Weather can always change, but gusts between 14-21 MPH are expected from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM local time. The weather draw doesn’t always pan out, but there could be an edge for the super early and super late tee times.
