PGA DFS: U.S. Open Round 2 Breakdown
Round 2 Preview
Even though Winged Foot played tough, not many of us were expecting there to be 21 golfers under par after the first round. The rough was playable depending on the lie and the greens were fairly receptive. There were also some easy pin locations where you could work the ball off the slopes to get it close even if you didn’t have a good angle into the green. I expect that to be the lowest scoring round of the tournament and wouldn’t be surprised if there were only a handful of golfers under par by the time Sunday afternoon rolls around. They will continue to grow and water the rough and it sounds like they will give each green about 30 seconds of water each night to keep them from baking out. Overall, this is a great championship venue and I can’t wait to see how the next few days play out.
With rain in the forecast this evening and fairly strong winds expected on Friday, we could see a significant edge for the morning wave. The weather angle rarely plays out the way we want it to and I wouldn’t go completely overboard with a morning stack in showdown, but it’s not the worst idea in the world if you can find six golfers that you like. For Friday’s picks, I wrote up my favorite four golfers from the morning wave.
