PGA DFS Value Breakdown: Sony Open

Selecting the absolute best value out there is crucial to cruising to the top of the leaderboards. TJ “tjl5124” Laessig, will dive into the player pool, evaluating roster construction and picking out his favorite value options for the week’s tournament.

Sony Open

The golf season got off to a great start with Cam Smith and his impressive -34 performance, barely holding off #1 ranked Jon Rahm to win the Tour Championship. This week, we have a weaker field at the Sony Open, and will see a mix of golfers that played last week and others that will be making their 2022 debut. The Sony is traditionally a tournament where we see some of the shorter hitters, such as Webb Simpson and Charles Howell, have consistent success. With this is mind, I won’t be looking at distance as much as I typically do, and will be focusing on strong iron players that can get it close on their approach shots and roll in some putts. I’ll be giving a bit more weight to course history than I do in a normal week and there are a number of golfers with a history of success in this specific tournament. In the value range, we have a mix of Tour veterans and some younger golfers coming off the Korn Ferry Tour. Let’s dive into my favorites!
