To be honest, we weren’t planning to have any golf content until the next PGA Tour event, but DraftKings decided to post some huge tournaments for this week’s DP World Tour event, so we are back a little earlier than expected. I always like events like this because the vast majority of DFS players are going to be lazy when it comes to research. They will lean on any projections they can find or they will blindly pick golfers based on their odds.
I usually don’t track statistics on the DP World Tour, but wanted to give out the best information possible for this week’s event. I went through and made adjustments to the model to incorporate the DP World Tour statistics. Whether or not we will have the usual projections is still up in the air (our tech team is swamped with football starting), but my player ratings are available in LineupHQ. They are full the full slate, but I had to upload them using the showdown template. I don’t have an extensive course preview this week because we don’t have nearly as much data on this course as we do on most PGA Tour venues. Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club is a Par 70 that measures less than 6,900 yards and plays even shorter than that due to the altitude. The fairways are tree-lined and the greens feature a mix of bentgrass and poa annua grass. The winning score has been in the teens in each of the last five years, so we should expect something similar this week. I’m keeping it simple and looking for golfers that hit fairways, that are good with their irons, and that putt well. That combination should work well this week.
