Course Preview

We are coming off of an interesting week of golf. Charl Schwartzel took down the Valspar Championship by besting Bill Haas in a playoff. We also saw Jordan Spieth shoot a 5-over first round, only to rally and finish in a tie for 18th. Danny Lee let a lot of people down after withdrawing halfway through his final round. We also saw Keegan Bradley go from being the leader at 4-under on Thursday, to missing the cut after shooting a 79 on Friday.

The PGA Tour heads to Orlando this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. This tournament could also be called the Tiger Woods Invitational, as he has eight career victories at this event. Woods will not be in the field this week, but there are still some big names including Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Justin Rose, and Jason Day. I should also note that Matt Every is looking for his third straight title. There will be plenty of Every jokes this week, but there is no denying the fact that he has two PGA Tour victories under his belt.

This event will be held at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge. This course is a Par 72 that stretches just over 7,400 yards. Despite its length, this is not a course that is generally dominated by bombers. Many holes require less than driver off the tee and we have seen plenty of short, accurate players contend here. Hitting greens is essential here and proximity from distances greater than 200 yards is important. Finally, we want to target players that are solid around the greens. Putting and scrambling typically play a big role at this event.

Cut Rule: The top 70 and ties move on after the first two rounds. It is important to note that there are only 120 golfers in the field this week, so at least 58% of the field will make the cut.

Recent Winners of this Event: Matt Every (2015), Matt Every (2014), Tiger Woods (2013), Tiger Woods (2012), Martin Laird (2011)

Weather: Thursday and Friday look pretty clear with winds around 9-11 MPH. We could see some rain on the weekend with a 60% chance of rain on Saturday and an 80% chance on Sunday.
