Sergio Garcia picked up his first PGA Tour victory in over four years with a win at the AT&T Byron Nelson last week. He made a nice run on the back nine on Sunday and was able to get the best of Brooks Koepka in a playoff. The PGA Tour stays in Texas this week, although it will move to Fort Worth. I also want to mention that DraftKings is now offering contests for European Tour events, so we can basically have four straight days and nights of sweating our golf lineups. The first Euro Tour event is the BMW Championship. Lineups lock at 12:00 ET on Wednesday night (technically Thursday morning), so make sure to save your lineups before going to bed on Wednesday.
As for the Dean & Deluca Invitational, you may not recognize the name of the event. This was previously known as the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Even though the sponsor has changed, it is the same event that has been held at the Colonial Golf and Country Club. This is a Par 70 track that measures just over 7,200 yards. From looking at the past winners alone, we can easily figure out that this is not a bombers course. The three players in the field this week that have best track record at this event are: Zach Johnson, Jordan Spieth, and Chris Kirk. All three are more of the course manager types that tend to play better on shorter courses.
Colonial Country Club features very thin fairways and very small greens. Even though all of the golfers in the field will hit fairways at a lower rate than they are used to, it is an important statistic this week, because even if you miss the fairway, you want to miss on the right side. Greens in regulation should prove to be important this week and given the small nature of the greens, it may not hurt to factor in proximity to the hole as well. As with any Par 70 layout, par four scoring becomes very important because there are only two par fives that the players will be able to take advantage of. And finally, I am going to sprinkle in a bit of the all-around ranking this week. It never hurts to target the golfers that do a little bit of everything well.
Before we get to the fantasy notes, I want to point out a few more notes about this course. It features one of the toughest three-hole stretches in golf. They have names it the “Horrible Horseshoe.” Despite it’s terrible nickname, any golfer will be happy to play these three holes at even par. I am factoring in course history a little heavier than usual this week, as the same golfers tend to play well here each and every year. The final thing to bring up is the size of the field. This is an invitational and there were only 125 golfers that were invited. That is considerably less than the full field events that we have seen recently. The smaller the field, the higher the percentage of golfers make the cut, which allows us to take a few more chances when building lineups.

Fantasy Notes
Cut Rule: Top 70 and ties will move on after the first two rounds. The MDF rule is in effect if there are more than 78 golfers that make the initial cut. In the event that more than 78 golfers make the cut, there will be a second cut (top 70 and ties) after the third round.
Recent Winners of this Event: Chris Kirk (2015), Adam Scott (2014), Boo Weekley (2013), Zach Johnson (2012), David Toms (2011)
