Farmers Insurance Open
Welcome back to yet another GPP golf breakdown for this week’s tournament! More eyes will be on the PGA Tour this weekend, as there is no NFL action with a one week break until the big game. As such, there are some big prize pools out there (especially on DK), and we might see some softer competition in these PGA GPP contests. As is the case with many tournaments in the winter months, we have a quirky format, as two courses are in play. This is not a pro-am event like last week’s, however, and the purpose of the second course is to get players through their rounds with the more limited daylight hours. It’s also only in play during the first two rounds. Each golfer will play one round on the North Course and one round on the South Course at beautiful Torrey Pines prior to the cut, before the host South Course handles the final two rounds in their entirety.
The host South Course comes in as a very long par 72 that plays at over 7,600 yards from the professional tees. The North Course isn’t quite as long and will play a bit easier, but renovations prior to the 2017 edition have made the North Course more formidable. Still, we can expect the North Course to yield the better scoring of the two courses, and it’s imperative that your golfers to have a good round there.
