Travelers Championship

Well, that U.S. Open was a treat, wasn’t it? The weather played a critical role last week and is sure to play a role in the next major championship next month at Carnoustie, but for this week we get a bit of a breather with the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut. This course is a short par 70 course, and it’s remarkable how similar the statistical profile has been for the winners of this event.

Par four scoring and greens in regulation take on primary importance statistically at this event. Jordan Spieth won here last year and finished 4th on Tour in GIR last season. Russell Knox won the year before and finished 9th on TOUR in GIR that season. There are only two par fives at TPC River Highlands, and they don’t play all that easy, so par four scoring is of prime importance. Every single golfer that I am targeting this week is with those two statistics in mind, because this course will make you pay if you are missing the greens on the par fours. As such, I will show the current year ranking in those two key statistical categories for every golfer that I include in this article.
