Valero Texas Open
Welcome back to another week of DFS golf! We have a relatively weak field event down in San Antonio this week, but that doesn’t mean this event is a pushover. TPC San Antonio will be the host course in an event that often feels the wrath of mother nature. Wind can wreak havoc down there at this time of the year, and this is one of the events where we often see a dramatic benefit thanks to weather.
It will be very important to monitor potential favorable draws as we get closer to Thursday morning. This event is often one where I will gladly stack a tee time wave if we see a huge benefit, which might require pulling exposure off of some golfers that I like. I will try to update this article if there is a substantial benefit to one wave over the other. As of now, the winds seem like they will be relatively consistent over the first two days of the tournament, so I am not favoring a wave at this point.
This is a relatively fair course that will challenge every aspect of a golfer’s game. As usual, tee to green precision will be paramount. Total driving is definitely a stat I will be looking at this week, as well as players who know how to play well in the wind. Course history here is a nice bonus, as we do tend to see some guys who just happen to play well here.
