Hey RotoGrinders! This week the PGA Tour is going to have to grind for 4 rounds, for the second week in a row, in order to get a high finish at Congressional CC. We had to do the same with our research. Who did the most people land on? Let’s take a look!

Brendan Steele (22% GPP, 43% Cash) – By far the king of the chalk this week, I was impressed with how low his GPP ownership actually came in at. I think it was as easy of a fade as it was a play – a lot of times we’re faced with these decisions surrounding guys who are REALLY elite or REALLY underpriced … and I think the consensus was that Steele was in a fantastic spot this week, he wasn’t exactly at a discount, so I think many people quickly gave their shares away in the big contest. Makes sense. Looks temporarily maybe shrewd. But lot’s of time to go! If you didn’t take Steele, let’s see who else there was to build around!

Charles Howell III (21% GPP, 33% Cash) – A big return for the big guy, he’s not a direct alternative to Steele by any means, and I imagine many lineups include both (4% actually). There was a lot of talk this week about how he used to be high owned a lot. I guess people remembered! Very accommodating price point. About twice as many people chose to pair him with our next feature …

Jamie Lovemark (19% GPP, 30% Cash) – Another one of our DFS favorites, he came back at the aforementioned very attractive price point, a guy that screams upside and a guy that people are very comfortable with. I think the only thing holding some of these guys from being HIGHER owned is that this area is crowded out other guys – like Daniel Summerhays and Tony Finau also garnering 25%+ ownerships in cash games – we can only play six guys! Only so much room! But people hit the mid-range especially heavy for this tournament.

Rickie Fowler (19% GPP, 9% Cash) – SO, to shake the midrange, Mr. Fowler. Veeeeery interesting. Pretty reflective I’d guess of a golfer who currently feels extremely inconsistent (that might be optimistic?) but with obviously all of the “upside” in the world. I think everyone who played him is very happy with a sub 20% ownership in the big $3 contest.

Jon Rahm (19% GPP, 20% Cash) – This one snuck up on me. I knew he’d be popular but I didn’t think it would go to THIS extent. Very impressive. And the early results have people wishing they had way more I’m sure! It’s really hard to talk about this play without letting the hindsight bleed in – but I think I wasn’t the only one that thought it was a rather aggressive ownership. I knew he was being played by a lot of sharp people but I didn’t think he was going to come out 20% in big contests! Very interesting.

Good luck everyone!
