We’re taking a step “down” this week as far as caliber of tournament, and DraftKings threw a new contest price point at us with the $36 Up and Down, but as seasoned DFS golf fans, we take all of this in stride!

This week set up for a big stars-and-scrubs week, so let’s see who filled those blanks for all the hardcore gamers out there!

Dustin Johnson (32% GPP, 25% Cash) – The penultimate “star” in the game right now, coming off a horrific (I’m joking obviously) 12th place finish last week, I honestly expected MORE ownership here. It was hard to avoid the upper-class, and he is the class of the upper class. The price was right and I think even at $13k he would have been nearly as high-owned, I think this 30-35% ceiling in GPP just comes from people being conscious of wanting to differentiate their lineups and deliberately attempting a DJ “fade” in order to win a big prize. I personally took him in all formats! Wish me luck! :)

Russell Henley (22% GPP 52% Cash) – Without much else to pick from, Henley stood out to many, including myself, as a go-to midrange price horse worth riding. He’s had great form and his price didn’t seem to reflect it. There’s not a ton of pedigree to go on in this field so riding the hot hand and a perceived salary edge makes for our highest owned cash play and 2nd highest owned GPP play. That said, half of the DK DFS world is crying right now because as of this writing he’s already tanked! There’s no sure things in PGA DFS, and in a tournament like this, that is magnified greatly!!

Jason Dufner 18% (GPP 52% Cash) – One of the rarer “familiar” names to the semi-casual DFS fan, Dufner’s found himself a popular choice in several tournaments lately, and hasn’t done anything to put too sour of a taste in anyone’s mouth. He feels like kind of a default at this point, battling back from some super-devastating putting woes to level out with a reputation as a great ball-striker and cut-maker. Both phrases that DFS fans like a lot!

Sergio Garcia (14% GPP, 7% Cash) – For being the defending champ, I feel like he came in a little low! Especially with the Masters buzz, and last week he really golfed well for the majority of the tournament despite a disappointing finish! All that said, the price put him in competition with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, and Jason Day … and despite his recent form, I think DFS fans rightly aren’t ready to heap money onto him with all of those distractions right next to him on the price-list!

Jordan Spieth 18% GPP 5% Cash – The home-state Hero gets a good nod from his followers here, despite not having outrageous recent form or history here. There’s nothing necessarily stopping him from doing well, and all of the above is reflected in his ownership profile here. Nobody wants to pay up and expect something consistent from him at this point in cash, but it’s going to take a lot of heartache for people to forget how dominant he was in 2015!

Good luck everyone, enjoy this week, and let’s keep the momentum going as we wind into Summer!!
