I hope everyone had a nice NFL opening week! Feels like it’s been ages since we tackled a PGA slate. We had the full allotment of superstars this week and an unusual format with a 70-man no-cut field. So many ways to win here, let’s see what everyone did!

Paul Casey (27% GPP, 55% Cash) – Casey has played just as well as anyone over the past couple of months, despite not having a win to his name, he’s come week-in, week-out with low rounds and consistent top 10 and top 5 finishes. It’s really incredible the level he’s been at! His steep ownership in cash makes sense to me, but I thought his increasing popularity and a price that keeps tiptoeing higher might level out his GPP ownership. In the end, he’s just been playing far too well without a letdown for far too many weeks, and is $1,000 cheaper than some of the only other guys we can say that about!

Phil Mickelson (25% GPP, 32% Cash) – Big Phil still flashes promise of upside, despite having an up-and-down year. It’s easy to fall back in love with him after a 6th place finish last time out. The course suits him well, and people generally want to see him do well so it’s not a far leap to make for most fans to make sure they don’t miss him on their DFS lineups! His price this week is lower than it has been at a lot of events with similar fields this year, but his cash game number isn’t as inflated as it could be, reflecting a lack of confidence in his consistency at this point in his career.

Jordan Spieth (18% GPP, 6% Cash) – This is a time where I feel like Mr. Spieth is patently under-owned. I think perhaps the case can be made for so many of the top golfers that a lot of people ended up rotating them throughout lineups in the 6-man DraftKings format, where it is harder to pick two “elite” golfers on a single roster. I did this as well, but I definitely emphasized Spieth over some of the others. 18% is an ownership that anyone who drafted him is happy competing with!

Rory McIlroy (7% GPP, 5% Cash) – This one makes a lot more sense to me, but it was one of the ones I was really the most interested in checking on. Rory’s been vocal about his nagging injury situation and need for rest lately, and his play on the course has reflected that sentiment. BUT. It’s not been horrible. Despite Rory’s thoughts, many fans out there still believe in Rory, and a few others just can’t resist taking somebody we know is capable of being the best golfers on the planet any given morning when he rolls out of bed, for a discount, and with very low ownership! It’s a gamble, for sure!

Good luck this week everyone!!!
