This week I’ll admit I got caught by surprise more often than normal I’d say, I kind of got un-excited due to weather, and the easy distraction of the Euro event to trash my preparation … so I laid back and maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised by some of these!
Bryce Molder (19% GPP, 45% Cash) – Okay, so this one wasn’t one of the surprises. Bryce does this every once in awhile, he seems to be very streaky, I know last time I caught the good end of the Bryce fade, and it feels like early on that’s going to level out for me this week. So whether or not you have him in cash currently feels huge! If you don’t have him, think about how all the people feel who own him in cash games but took him out for GPPs feel right now. But alas four rounds is a long time — who knows how we’ll feel on Sunday afternoon!?

Jordan Spieth 21% GPP 11% Cash) – The Vegas favorite by a long margin, even longer than last week, once again. It makes sense to see someone with purportedly those kinds of chances to win, on a course that doesn’t require distance, near home, etc. – what’s not to like? Well … he’s only THREATENED to pay off this kind of salary two of the last three times out. So the GPP love is still there but the cash games are waning. It will once again be interesting to see what kind of faces Jordan is making on the weekend!
Ryan Palmer (17% GPP 32% Cash) and Scott Piercy (13% GPP 21% Cash) – Golf clap, public! I am not sure if I should be proud, or ashamed, actually? But I think it takes some general fortitude to revisit these plays. I didn’t have either last week so I was chomping at the bit to play them here, but it looks like most people were not really scared. Granted, Piercy is a fraction of his price from last week, and this is Palmer’s home course. I didn’t expect it to be so cash-heavy though.
Danny Lee (40% Cash, 21% GPP) – So, I know he’s been popular before, but I think the bubble has finally burst here at $8800 and 40% ownership in cash. This has to be the peak for him, right? Like I said I know he’s been popular and I know he’s inched higher in salary than this, but never at the same time I believe. I think his salary and his play are leveling out around the same time but the “safety” of him playing near home has boosted his cash game % up there.
Matt Kuchar (26% GPP, 30% Cash) – Okay, I’ll let Bowditch off the hook this week. It’s getting old. Until he starts blasting 80s again. So in my glances of research this week I thought Kuchar felt like the guy everyone would flock to in cash. I mean just RED hot. And I said that last week and he finished 3rd again and really was cemented in a good position all week last week. Price is up again here, but I still thought he’d be a staple. Everyone seems to be going HARD for the $8k-range golfers in cash more and more every week.
Good luck everyone!
