Okay guys and gals! $100k on the line surely caused everyone to put on their thinking-caps, and maybe their over-thinking caps for some of us less fortunate! Let’s see which six golfers the most people picked trying to chase those six figures!

Dustin Johnson (38% GPP, 65% Cash) – Well, I’m surprised, but then again, I’m not? It’s a well-deserved play, and with the top golfers coming in at VERY buy-able prices, I suppose he was hard to avoid, even in cash. Typically we won’t see the very highest priced golfers be in the top couple owned in cash games (keeping in mind that ‘typically’ is a dangerous word in DFS) … but these guys just aren’t that expensive! Everything here set up for DJ’s “style” with him being able to reach some of these really far greens with a much lesser club than his competitors … a huge advantage indeed! We’ll see if it plays out in the final 3 rounds after a mediocre start!

Charles Howell (31% GPP, 80% Cash) – Let’s just go ahead and get this one out of the way. Consistently one of the most interesting ownership studies, there is some ebb and flow but all-in-all this guy is probably one of the most popular DFS golfers of … the DFS era? I noted last week that everyone who drafted him was probably very satisfied with his ownership percentage. This week he is/was tantamount to a free square in cash games, and since it was so obvious that his popularity far outweighed his salary, we see one of the most impressive gaps ever between cash game ownership and GPP ownership. The deliberate Charles Fade is in effect massively here, and on paper it’s logical enough, but the 49% of lineups that left him behind when they went to make GPPs are likely kicking themselves now after firing a fantastic opening round! Plenty of time left – but if he does anything at all, expect nearly $9,000+ salaries for Howell going forward even in moderately strong fields!

Gary Woodland (29% GPP, 41% Cash) -The Gary Woodland bandwagon has fueled up and left the station! Anyone who’s been paying attention has seen a shift in this guy’s game, and although there are memories of some atrocious putting performances within the past couple of years, it seems as though he’s really dialed himself in, and we’re all waiting for him to break it open! I like rooting for this guy, and apparently so do a lot of others at this point! He’s earned people money, and they’re going to keep risking it on him for the foreseeable future!

Jon Rahm (10% GPP, 13% Cash) – Well, we always talk about this guy when he’s high-owned, it’s very interesting to note that he’s “finally” convinced people he’s human, and while these aren’t rock-bottom ownership numbers, they definitely represent the wandering attention of DFS’ers. Regardless of the outcome, I think he was a convincing play at this course, and will remain so going forward. Keep an eye, folks! Let him lull through a few more tournaments even, but don’t forget about him! If he finishes top 5 any time in the next couple of months, expect him to be back atop the ownership boards for the following tournament!

Tiger Woods (22% GPP, 3% Cash) -This might be one of the most fascinating splits ever! But not exactly rocket science. It’s just incredible the pull that this man has! I think the obvious thought here is “WOW Tiger has done GREAT here” and everyone actually has memories still and will always have memories of that. And if you’re going to build 5 or 10 or 100 lineups for a $3 tournament, why not throw him into one out of every 5 or so! But the cash game ownership shows the real amount of confidence the public has in Tiger’s game right now! Harsh!

Good luck everyone! Let’s bring $100k home to a RotoGrinders member.

Also just a note, I will not be around for the Phoenix Open but I will be back the following week! Much love and buena suerte!
