The Greenbrier! We’re scant on big names this week, but “it’s all relative” in West Virginia AND in DFS. So who were the heavy hitters this week?

Stewart Cink (35% GPP, 80% Cash) – I never thought I’d see the day! People finally realized I suppose that 12 out of 14 made cuts or whatever his exact record is is good enough for cash games (11 out of 13 and the verdict was still out, apparently). Cink has had a great year, should be well suited in a field where not many are hitting 350 yard drives (although he can compete on distance just fine!) and well in a week where many of our old-standy “cheap” plays are now asking $8,000+, Cink is still sitting at a comfortable discount, so he was almost impossible to avoid in cash.

Tony Finau (34% GPP, 74% Cash) – Mr. Finau has been a DFS favorite for a couple of years now, and tends to show up in these lower-level tournaments where he start to be colored like a superstar without the distractions of all the other big-hitters. His distance is even more of an advantage when nobody else has it, and he carries the reputation of a “birdie-maker”, which is prized in DFS. All this for less than $9,000? DFS fans say “yes, please!”.

Gary Woodland (34% GPP, 59% Cash) – In a field with not a lot of sexy stories, Woodland has provided a heart-wrenching narrative over the past couple of months which has finally come to an end with the birth of his child. Everyone is rooting for this guy this week, so we might as well have him in our fantasy lineups, right? All money aside, a great performance from Woodland would warm everyone’s hearts.

Kevin Kisner (24% GPP, 21% Cash) – Kisner was my top-rated golfer this week, and he’s got a huge fanbase in DFS and a lot of recent success and upside, so I expected him to be a little higher-owned. I’m glad he’s not, though. As we typically see, it’s easy to not roster somebody that expensive in cash games, but if he has a good showing here, people won’t soon forget it.

Phil Mickelson (25% GPP, 20% Cash) – The biggest “name” in this field got a lot of talk and hence a lot of ownership, but again I thought it’d be higher. He brings a chance to win everywhere he goes, but hasn’t followed through in awhile. Some doubts about his penchant for casinos and three missed cuts here prior definitely stemmed the ownership tide. It will be interesting to see what kind of attitude he brings to the course with a new caddy. I’m happy watching the show from the sidelines on this one.

Good luck everyone!
