PGA Splits Advanced Data Picks and Analysis: BMW Championship

With Tony Finau finally winning again in a scintillating Monday finish, the opening round of the PGA FedExCup playoffs got off to a roaring start. The field has been trimmed down to 69 golfers and for some like Keith Mitchell, who barely made it through, the mantra was simple. “Survive and advance”. Mitchell was another great storyline as he had to make birdie putts on his final three holes to qualify for this week’s BMW Championship.

The event will be played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland on a course that has never hosted a Tour event. Even without any course history or stats to analyze, a few things are clear by watching the hole-by-hole flyovers and hearing reports from on the ground.
