PGA Value Breakdown: THE PLAYERS Championship

Selecting the absolute best value out there is crucial to cruising to top of the leaderboards. PGA guru Josh “futureoffantasy” Culp dives into the player pool, picking out his favorite value options for the week’s tournament.

THE PLAYERS Championship

With the strongest field in golf assembled at TPC Sawgrass, pricing is, and has to be “soft” by normal standards.

You can’t have all the elite golfers in the same price range which means the value pool might be a little stronger than usual.

Regardless of the pricing, value plays will be crucial as usual. Here are some of my favorite values this week:

Francesco Molinari ($8100 DK / $9500 FD / $14200 FDRFT)

He gave us a recent scare when he backed out ahead of the Valero Texas Open, citing a shoulder injury. He claimed it was precautionary and that certainly looked true last week as he led the field in strokes gained approach at the Wells Fargo Championship. That kind of ball-striking is what helps the Italian thrive here so consistently. In seven visits to TPC Sawgrass, Molinari has pieced together four top 10s. That accounts for 19 percent of his career top 10s on the PGA TOUR circuit. Elite course history combined with strong recent iron play and steady long-term abilities will make him extremely popular this week. I think he deserves all the attention and should be loaded into plenty of lineups (Cash and/or GPP) this week.
