PGA Value Breakdown: Valspar Championship
Selecting the absolute best value out there is crucial to cruising to top of the leaderboards. PGA guru Josh “futureoffantasy” Culp dives into the player pool, picking out his favorite value options for the week’s tournament.
Valspar Championship
Heading back to the States this week, we set our attention on the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida.
This field is likely the strongest it’s ever been for this event. We have Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, and Sergio Garcia, to name a few. Oh yeah, there is also that guy named Tiger Woods.
If you want to fit in some stars, you’ll need some value plays to round out the lineups. Let’s have a look at some of my favorites values plays this week:
Aaron Wise ($6900 DK / $8100 FD / $12200 FDRFT)
One of my favorite golfers ready to break out on the big stage. He has all the tools to join the likes of Daniel Berger, Tony Finau, Gary Woodland, etc as second-tier talents with plenty of winning potential on a week-to-week basis. Like that trio, Wise has plenty of length in his favor. That should help him with the long-iron play this week which is crucial at Copperhead Course. What I really like, though, is his performance when you take the driver out of his hands. Perhaps, he hasn’t figured out how to harness his power yet because his top-3 TOUR finishes have come at TPC Summerlin, Sea Island, and Pebble Beach. Three events where golfers don’t need to pound drivers. They are position-based courses which does bode well for Wise this week at Copperhead. This is not a week where eagles will be flying but Wise’s elite long game often makes him an eagle magnet.
