PGA Weekly Course Analysis: Hero World Challenge

Each week, Sean O’Donnell will break down the course in detail to figure out which golfers will be in the best position to succeed.

Hero World Challenge (November 29th)

Hey all! This week we get a mid-holiday tropical treat with our last stop essentially before the season resumes in Hawaii in the New Year! All of this seems to be sneaking up, but the “end” of the golf season hasn’t really snuck up on anyone, it seems! When does it really begin and end? According to the PGA Tour, we’re in 2019 already. For many, it ended after the PGA Championship. For others, the new season essentially starts with the Tournament of Champions in January, and for many fans, they won’t be paying a lot of attention again until The Players, perhaps. But, here we are! It’s a small field so we’ll have to get creative to find advantages … so let’s take a look!

Albany:

Par: 72
Length: 7400
Scoring average per round: -2.6
Chances of bogey free round (field): 10.3%
Best opportunities for 3-birdie streak (field): With 5 par 5’s could happen anywhere almost
Best chances for eagle: #15
Projected Cut: N/A
Key Holes: all of the par 5’s

Here’s a visual representation of the eagle/better(dark blue), birdie(light blue), par(gray), bogey(orange), and double bogey/worse (red) percentages for each of the 18 holes:
