PGA Weekly Course Analysis: Houston Open

Each week, Sean O’Donnell will break down the course in detail to figure out which golfers will be in the best position to succeed.

Houston Open

This week’s contest brings us to the former Shell Houston Open, who due to sponsorship issues is now just the Houston Open and has been moved into the cellar of the PGA Tour season schedule. Formerly occupying a spot right before the Masters, it used to draw several more top names. This year, we don’t have much to work with as far as name recognition, but that’s where research can pay even more dividends, so let’s take out the fine-tooth comb and make a pass at it!

GC of Houston:

Par: 72
Length: 7457
Scoring average per round: -0.43
Chances of bogey free round (field): 4.6%
Best opportunities for 3-birdie streak (field): 11-12-13-14-15 area
Best chances for eagle: #8
Projected Cut: -1
Key Holes: #4, #8, #18
