Rankings Update 10/6

rotogrinders misc rankings small

Last week we introduced the new and improved rankings formula built to better represent the true abilities of our members without overly weighting multi-site or sport bonuses. This week it’s back to business as we take a look at which members have been doing some moving and shaking atop a number of leaderboards. A commenter on a rankings update asked about a month back if we could update more leaderboards each week, so that’s exactly what I plan on doing. This week we have the overall board, the end of season MLB Leaderboard, and the NFL Seasonal Leaderboard through one month of NFL action. Let’s get it.

Overall Leaderboard: Top-25 Grinders Update

Since we’ve been gone for so long, it’s no surprise that there is plenty of movement in the Top-25 to report. We got 10 players who bettered their position within the Top-25 since the middle of September’s rankings. Mbomb44 made the biggest leap within the Top-25 while also joining the top echelon of Grinders. He moved from 29th to 22nd overall. Jlowery73 made the second biggest leap, moving 6 places up from just inside the Top-25, at 24th, to now standing solidly in 18th place.

Four players made moves of 2 places, 2 of which came from within the top-10. TomG who’s position changed by far the most in the new rankings formula, now stands at 3rd overall. And PrimeTime420 will be going to Vegas again for the FFFC and has been just hot enough to put himself into the Top-5. Big props to both of those guys. Just below them we have one of the most talked about Grinders on the circuit right now and that’s HeadChopper who advanced two more places to now stand at 14th overall. Shulkin also moved up 2 spots from 19th to 17th, so congrats to him! Lastly, we have Dinkpiece, Notorious, Heelsman and CSUram88 who all moved up 1 spot within the Top-25 this week. Congrats guys!

1 A negative GLB change does not reflect a loss for the past week, but since our results are for only the past 365 days, a negative GLB change shows someone who likely had higher winnings in this week last year than they did this season.

Movers, Shakers and New Players

In the formula of old I had to update players making 4-5 spot jumps because there really wasn’t all that movement. One thing I love about the new formula is that it creates a TON of movement up and down the board so you always have a chance to better your standing and you always need to be on your game to not get bumped out. We have 7 new players on the GLB since mid-September and 7 double-digit jumpers in that span.

Our new players are a nice mix of guys who’s names I haven’t seen before and a few who have been here, done that. Mickdawgx81 joins the GLB at an incredible 26th place, so big props to him on all his successes. He is certainly a player to watch for in the weeks upcoming. JVlax27 might not be very good at lacrosse but he certainly can play some DFS on his yacht in Nantucket(Lax Bro joke, sorry if it wasn’t funny!) Anyways, he killed it and joins the GLB at 30th overall. BW5126 is the other fully new player to the GLB, coming in at 35th overall. Jimpie, TommyG1979, DataBetOrg and Holmfries all look like familiar names, though. I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure these legends are simply making a return trip to the top-100 with Top-25 goals in mind.

7 double-digit jumps, as I mentioned before, could probably be considered the headline story of this update. It’s a tough call with the wealth of movement in the Top-25, massive number of new players on the GLB and the crowning of the MLB Seasonal Champ. Either way, we can kick it off with STLcardinals84 who is celebrating one of the worst calls in the history of athletics which aided his favorite MLB team to advance to the NLDS last night. Regardless of the call, the Braves did everything to lose that game and the Cards did not so congrats to them. As a Red Sox fan, I will not congratulate the Orioles. This Yanks/O’s Series will be misery. AND regardless of all of that, STLcardinals84 has been absolutely on fire in DFS, moving up 31 places to 28th overall and sitting just outside that elusive Top-25. Gelo24 made the 2nd biggest jump of the week, advancing 18 places to 33rd overall. Dooger1234 moves up 16 spots to 34th, Tfbelongia moves 13 spots to 29th, BirdWings and TonyCincotta each move up 12 spots to 27th and 32nd respectively. Congrats to all these guys on their incredible runs.
