Rankings Update 7/6: All-Stars of DFS MLB Revealed

Welcome back to another edition of the Rankings Update, filled with Top 25 Grinders news, new and rising stars, as well as a special look at how the MLB daily fantasy season is shaping out as we enter the All-Star break. The All-Star break is a symbolic halfway point as well as just about an actual halfway point for the MLB season, so we will use that as our time to take a look at the best daily fantasy players across baseball thus far. It’s as if we are looking at the All-Stars of daily fantasy while the All-Stars of real baseball perform in Kansas City(yes that was corny.) As I break down the top fantasy players in MLB, I will try and draw comparisons to real baseball players as best I can to add some fun into this week’s update.
Top-25 Update
A slow week in the Top-25 this week as only three players were able to better their position. It’s not too slow, but compared to last week’s avalanche of movement it is quite less significant. The highest ranking Grinder to move up the leaderboard is GeneralV who improved his standing by one place as he moved from 15th to 14th place overall. The next to jumps are players new to the Top-25 this week and were both thanks to a 4-place move up the leaderboard. In 22nd place, moving up from 26th, is the rising star Bluestem89. Bluestem89 was the headline story two weeks ago and continues his success as he finally joins the Top-25 Grinders. The second 4-place jump goes to BJBJ who moved from 28th to 24th and now stands on the edge of that Top-25 range. Big congrats to all of these guys and good luck keeping up with the best of the best!

Movers, Shakers and New Players
Finally we have a week where a good amount of players were able to move well up the leaderboard. It has been slow since the new and improved rankings system was unveiled, but at last there is much to be excited about. Six players bettered themselves by more than five places this week and one new player joined the GLB. Shulkin is the highest of the movers and shakers this week after a 5-place jump that pushes him all the way to 34th place overall. BirdWings, a consistent GLB Rankings Update topic, moved 5-spots himself from 73rd to 68th overall as well. TomG, one of the hottest Grinders around, took the biggest jump of the week with a ridiculous 18-place catapult up the leaderboard from 91st to 73rd. Props to TomG. Bombomguido receives the second highest boost in the past 7 days thanks to some solid MLB play and moves 8 places up the GLB from 85th to 77th. Stewburtx8 and Stlcardinals84 both used 5-place jumps as well to stand at 82nd and 92nd respectively.
Our only new Grinder to the GLB this week was Sprtsnut4ever who was consistently in the Top-100 in the old formula but hadn’t been in the Top-100 since our new, and slightly different, formula was unveiled. Sprtsnut4ever now finds himself in 93rd place and securely in the Top-100, for now. Congrats to Sprtsnut4ever
MLB Rankings Update: All-Star Break
Holding down the #1 and #2 positions are two of the perennial powers of late in the daily fantasy world in Brettfavre444 and Beermakersfan. In terms of MLB All-Stars, Brettfavre444 would be like Josh Hamilton in that he is always in the mix for the best player and he is winning the GLB race by a long shot(Hamilton received the most AS Game votes.) Beermakersfan might be compared to Derek Jeter, in that he is one of the best and most grizzled veterans of daily fantasy sports. He is always successful, and always consistent. I won’t try to compare the other top players in MLB for fear of embarrassing myself, but you get the picture. Congrats to all the MLB leaders and best of luck in your continued success.
