RBC Canadian Open Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Alex Smalley

We’re headed just northwest of Toronto this week for the RBC Canadian Open. Much like most Canadians themselves, the weather for this tournament is, in a word, nice.

As usual in my PGA weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

RBC Canadian Open Weather Forecast

Thursday, June 5th

We could see rain right out of the gate, with scattered showers possible Thursday morning, especially for our earliest tee times. The good news is that the rain should taper off by the afternoon (at the latest), and winds remain light. Morning winds between 5-10 mph with gusts around 15 mph…afternoon winds similar but perhaps with lighter gusts.

Friday, June 6th

Nice weather all day, with no rain and light (5-10 mph max) winds both morning and afternoon.

Saturday, June 7th

Another great day with no rain and light winds. I don’t expect we see winds over 10 mph.

Sunday, June 8th

Winds stay fairly light, but some forecast models are picking up on a chance for rain. I don’t have much more to add to that yet, so I’ll just leave things at a “chance” for rain.

RBC Canadian Open Weather Thoughts

I think no matter how you go about building things here, the weather is going to cooperate pretty nicely. I suppose I have the slightest of a lean towards a Thursday PM / Friday AM build, but with winds fairly light all tournament long, I don’t think one wave will see any real weather advantage over the other.
