RECAP: DraftKings Sports Betting National Championship
The DraftKings Sports Betting National Championship wrapped up on Sunday, with tus0323 taking down $1M top prize and earning a ticket to the Tournament of Champions.
The second iteration of the three-day event featured plenty of big bets, leaderboard changes and sweats down the stretch. Here’s a look back at the action!
tus0323 Takes it Down
Huge congrats to tus0323, who ran away with the competition on Sunday and finished with a final bankroll of $169,747.17. They beat out 2nd place (jetsr2cool) by more than $30K.
tus0323 only placed six bets, but one massive parlay shot them to the top of the leaderboard. A $24,900 wager on Jaguars +14.5 + Bills/Jaguars under 49 + Broncos +6.5 first half netted nearly $145K.
They racked up over $30K in winnings on a trio of college football bets early on Saturday, but lost $13.2K on the Lakers later that evening. The 3-team NFL parlay was the only bet tus0323 placed on Sunday, and ended up being all they needed.
jetsr2cool Goes 6-for-6, Comes Up Short
Tough beat for jetsr2cool. They led by more than $35K after Saturday, having piled up over $48K on Army +2.5 and the Suns -3.5, both of which came down to the wire. jetsr2cool placed all of their eggs in the Colt McCoy basket on Sunday, placing two wagers on the Cardinals ML ($5K and $10K) plus a $50K bet on the Cardinals +4.
And it worked! Arizona cruised to a two-score win over San Francisco, despite being without Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. Unfortunately for jetsr2cool, it wasn’t enough to hold off tus0323.
Still a very impressive performance nailing all six bets over the weekend, and $250K (plus a final bankroll of $139,641.03) isn’t a bad consolation.
Our Guy Grant Finishes 3rd
Kind of buried the lede here. Grant Neiffer, also known as gneiffer07, finished in 3rd! Huge congrats to our man, well deserved.
He entered Sunday in 12th place, but WENT OFF on the final day of the contest. Grant nailed six bets on Sunday, flying up the leaderboard and finishing with a final bankroll of $109,478.06.
Grant was all over one particular NBA player prop parlay, placing four separate wagers on Bradley Beal over 4.5 assists + Jarrett Allen over 11.5 rebounds + Harrison Barnes over 18.5 points. The Barnes leg was a bit of a sweat, but he hit a pair of free throws with under 5 minutes left to go over the number.
He also placed two wagers on another NBA player prop parlay, putting $3.8K and then $900 on Evan Fournier over 13.5 points + Joe Harris over 2.5 three pointers made + Kyle Kuzma under 0.5 steals. Zero steals, always a fun sweat!
Grant took home a $125K prize in addition to his final bankroll. Well done!
