Record-Setting 3,123 Entries Produce Prize Pool of More Than $4 Million in Las Vegas SuperContest
The 2018 Las Vegas SuperContest set a new record with 3,123 entries, surpassing last year’s 2,748 by 375 entries to mark the eighth consecutive record-setting year for the number of contestants in the “world’s ultimate pro football handicapping contest.” With $1,380 of each $1,500 entry going into the prize pool after the $120 administrative fee is taken out, the prize pool for the 2018 Las Vegas SuperContest tops $4 million for the first time in the contest’s storied history.
Official prize pool and payouts will be announced soon, but with the increase in entries of more than 13% we can expect to see the winner take home more than the $1.327 million 2017 champion Briceton Jamar Branch won. Branch entered the 2017 Las Vegas SuperContest using the handle “GRANNYS BOY.”
For the 2018 Las Vegas SuperContest, the top 100 places, pending ties, are set to pay out using an escalating pay structure that sees prizes increase the higher the finish.
Las Vegas SuperContest Entries By Year

In addition to the prize money awarded to the top 100 places in the SuperContest, contestants can score big with the various mini-contests that are a part of the SuperContest. There are three mini-contests and they all have prizes of $15,000 attached to them that are listed as provided by the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook and exclusive of the prize pool that comes from the entry fees.
The Early Sign-Up Bonus Mini Contest is for contestants that register before Monday, September 3, 2018, at 4 p.m. PT and runs during the final three weeks of the NFL season. The contestant to accumulate the most points over those final three weeks will be awarded the $15,000 bonus prize.
The 1st Quarter Bonus is offered over the first four weeks of the season. In similar fashion, the contestant to accumulate the most points over the first four weeks will be awarded the $15,000 bonus prize.
The third bonus available to contestants is the Halftime Bonus. The Halftime Bonus is also for $15,000 and set to be awarded to the contestant to accumulate the most points over the first eight weeks of the pro football season.
In the case of ties in any of the three mini-contests, the prize will be evenly divided among the gridlocked contestants.
$5,000 SuperContest Gold Also Sees Boost
In addition to the $1,500 SuperContest, Westgate Las Vegas offers a higher buy-in SuperContest Gold football betting contest. The SuperContest Gold was launched in 2017 and came with a $5,000 price of entry. The contest is run with no administration fee and the prize structure is a winner-take-all format.
In its first year, the SuperContest Gold attracted 94 entries, with “STAG CAPITAL” taking top honors and the $470,000 first-place prize.
The second edition of the SuperContest Gold drew 128 entries for a $640,000 prize pool that will all be awarded to first place.
