Rise & Grind: April 16th, 2014

Before you say anything, yes, I know that is not a gif. But frankly it was just too awesome not to share, so deal with it!
Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off on the right foot with yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the the upcoming day in the world of DFS.
So kick back, grab your first cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest news!
In Case You Missed It
- Two more Qualifiers are in the books – DraftKings and FanDuel both ran qualifiers to their respective baseball destination finals last night. Over on DraftKings, the winner was a Grinder by the username driverseati. He had 2 entries into the contest, and 2.2% owned Kole Calhoun helped put him over the top with his 1 HR, 3 hit, 3 run, 2 RBI night. Over on FanDuel, the infamous kingofqueens failed once again in his attempt to game the system, and came up half a point short of winning the seat. Instead, another new(ish) user took down the top spot. conan_the_bumbarian (bonus points for a ridiculous username) took it down with what turned out to be his fourth MLB win since signing up for FanDuel in August of last year. It was also his only entry; Chip and a chair baby!
- Strasburg’s Epic Implosion – It just goes to show that while DFS is a skill game, nothing is guaranteed in the world of sports. Stras was the consensus number one, sure-fire lock of the night going up against a feeble Miami lineup. The talk was that people would be scared off of him becuase the Marlins pwned him once already this year, and it turns out it might not have been a fluke. Stras gave up 6 earned runs in the first two innings alone, and only pitched 4 innings total before he was pulled. Looks like the Florida fish have got this guy’s number (even though yesterday he wasn’t wearing his actual number!).
Today’s Events
- Tonight’s Action – It’s the last night of the regular season in the NBA, every playoff spot has been locked up, but there are still seedings to be determined. The Grizz and the Mavs battle it out for the 7 seed, while the results of the Chicago and Toronto games will determine who wins the 3 seed and the right to take on the
Wizards6th seed in the first round of the playoffs. In baseball, a few games that were postponed yesterday have been rescheduled for today, so be sure to check your early game slates to see which games are and aren’t included. And in the world of hockey, it turns out I was half asleep yesterday when I wrote this article, because the three games I was talking about are actually today!
- Today’s GPP’s – There’s a lot going on tonight, so buckle your seatbelts and get ready for some serious cash to be won. FanDuel has a ton of big games going on tonight, including the $270 DFBC qualifier, a $125k MLB Monster AND a $70k NBA Slam. Day-um! DraftKings isn’t slacking either, with a $100k version of their MLB Perfect Game tournament and a $50k NBA Mega Crossover with a $27 buy in and a $1000 prize for the top 50 players. Meanwhile, DraftStreet is seeing off the NHL season in style with a $20k NHL Big Score.
