Rise & Grind: April 22nd, 2014

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off on the right foot with yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the the upcoming day in the world of DFS.
So kick back, grab your first cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest news!
In Case You Missed It
- There is Always a Ray of Hope – The $109 qualifier ran last night and was taken down by rayofhope. Avoiding Hernandez and fading Posey were both key in his victory last night, even though he took a -1 from Miggy. Interestingly, the lineup he won the qualifier with was also the lineup he used in his cash games! Our own Al_Smizzle finished with two entries in the top 5, while Pepsi7 earned a 4th place finish, and primetime420 finished just outside the top 5 at number 6. Good showing guys!
- Boston Strong Fundraiser – I wish I had seen this tournament yesterday so I could have included it in the article, but it was very successful nonetheless. Last night DraftKings ran a $10 tournament where they promised to match every entry in donations to the Boston Marathon victims and their families. It ran with 213 entries, raising $4,260 in funds. Fantastic move DraftKings!
Today’s Events
- Tonight’s Action – It’s a beautiful day in the Major Leagues for daily fantasy. We have a full 15 game schedule, and every game starts after 7pm EST, which means a full slate for all! The Rockies are at home once again and are once again facing a left handed pitcher, so the stars are aligned for another big night in Colorado. It should be interesting to see if Posey’s poor showing last night will scare people off him. The Stanley Cup playoffs resume tonight, starting with the Lightning taking on the Canadiens at 7pm. In the NBA, Game 2 between the Hawks and the Pacers tips off at 7 tonight. The Hawks took the first game with surprising ease, so it should be interesting to see how Indiana reacts.
- Today’s GPP’s – DraftKings has it’s 4th qualifier to the Fantasy Baseball Championship running tonight. It is a $200 buy in, 375 person GPP, with the winner taking home a trip to Atlantis to play in the finals for a cool $1 million first place prize. They also have a $100k MLB High Heat running tonight at a $109 buy in. Meanwhile, FanDuel is running a $150k MLB Monster, which awards $25k to first place. They also have the $535 version of the DFBC qualifier running tonight, and our friend kingofqueens seems to have backed down just a bit from his last showing. And by that I mean that he bought 15 entries instead of last week’s 40+. Finally, DraftStreet has $15k and $10k MLB GPPs running tonight, as well as sattelites into their $100k MLB Pick Em tournament that runs this Friday.
