So kick back, grab your first cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest news!
In Case You Missed It
- NBA Parity?? – You will often hear a lot of complaints about the state of the NBA right now. Some say it’s a league of punks, that no one plays defense, that there are only a few good teams and a bunch of horrible ones, that it just plain isn’t good basketball, or a number of other things…Oh, I’m sorry, were you expecting me to say something about how that’s totally false? Well, you won’t hear that from me, because I’m usually one of the people saying those things. But as of right now, the NBA playoffs would beg to differ. Last night the Hawks proved that their Game 1 win wasn’t just a fluke, as they shocked the world with a 98-95 win over the Pacers. They now lead the series 2-1 going into Game 4. They weren’t the only lower seed to take a series lead though, as the Grizz took down the Thunder by the same 98-95 score, but in over time. Personally I’m a little less surprised by this “upset” as I think the Grizzlies and their sout defense are one of the more underrated teams in the NBA, but you don’t give a crap about my opinion do you? Right then, moving on.
- Duck Season, Wabbit Season – - For those of you that don’t know him, our good friend duckiesuccumbs is quite the character. He joins in from time to time on events like our sweat shows and provides some much needed entertainment. In case you missed it, Duckie premiered a new series last night that’s a bit different from the rest of the content you’ll find here on RG. It’s a little random, kinda crass, and a lot of fun to read, so be sure to check it out.
Today’s Events
- Today’s Action – The next round of the NBA playoffs continues with the Raptors taking on the Nets in Brooklyn. I don’t know about you, but I’m rooting for Toronto because I must see a Raptors/Heat series that results in some shaved Grinder’s heads. The NHL playoffs also has three games scheduled, two of which have the series tied at 2-2, while the Rangers have a 2-1 advantage over the Flyers. But the real action (at least in the DFS world) will be in Major League Baseball tonight. We have a full 15 game schedule this evening, they’re all night games, AND the Rockies aren’t playing in Coors field! I’m a happy guy tonight, there should be tons of baseball goodness to go around.
- Today’s GPP’s – Being that it’s a Friday with a full late schedule, there are some huge tournaments going on across the industry. DraftKings is hosting the first Major event in their Legend Series tonight, the $400,000 Sweet Spot. I love the setup of this tournament: 2240 entrants, $200 buy in, pays out the top 450, and first place takes home $40 grand AND a trip to Atlantis to play in the Finals! For all you lesser bankroll players (like me), they also have a Medium and Mini Sweet Spot running at $27, and $2, so you can join in on the action as well. And of course we can’t forget about the Monster tournaments (pun fully intended) running over on FanDuel. They have a $100k Monster running tonight that awards $15k to first place. They also have a $25 DFBC qualifier that at the time of this writing is about 1/4 full. If you’re looking for something a little different, DraftStreet is running a $100k guaranteed Pick Em tournament tonight as well. It’s only a $22 buy in, and the winner takes home 20 grand, so no complaints there! It’s the biggest guaranteed DS has had in a while, and it looks like a great tournament. Finally, I always look to mention these, but they seem to always run on Saturdays, so I never get the chance. StarStreet has a couple satellites to their Playboy Mansion qualifier tonight. There are sattys at the $22 and $109 buy in level, which is a good price point to try and streak your way to the greatest party in DFS.
