Rise & Grind: April 2nd, 2014

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off on the right foot with yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the the upcoming day in the world of DFS.
So kick back, grab your first cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest news!
In Case You Missed It
- MGT Purchases DraftDay – In a shocking story that I personally thought was an April Fool’s joke at first, MGT announced last night that it was buying out DraftDay. DD has always been top notch in customer service, UI, rewards programs, and fun new contest types, and it should be interesting to see what they can do with MGT’s funding. Congratulations to Taylor and all the guys from DD, we at RG wish you nothing but the best! Be sure to check out the full article here for more details.
- The DFBC has its first Qualifier – FanDuel ran it’s first qualifer to the $3m DFBC last night, and it actually overlayed a little bit. It only ran with 4280 out of 5271 possible entries, but adj1985 was still able to take down the masses and win the trip to Vegas and the first spot in the field of 70. The fact that Freddie Freeman and Brad Miller (who was only 2.8% owned) each had a double dong night certainly didn’t hurt (well that just sounds dirty).
Today’s Events
- Tonight’s Action – Day 3 in the MLB season and boy is there a full schedule. 16 games in total, with every team in the league playing and a double header for the Indians and and Athletics. The MLB isn’t the only game in town tonight though, because there are a whopping 13 games on the slate in the NBA, including what should be a hilariously bad (read: full of fantasy goodness) game between Sacramento and the Lakers. Not quite as much going on in the rink tonight though, with only 4 games on the schedule.
- Today’s GPP’s – With the NBA season winding down prize pools have begun to dip a bit, but there is still plenty of money to be won. FanDuel’s Slam is going off at $70k tonight with $9k to first. They also have the MLB Strikeout running with a $40k prize pool. DraftKings and DraftStreet have a few early slate games going on as well, including DraftStreet’s $5,000, $55 entry GPP. For the later games, DraftKings is also running a $20k High Heat.
