In Case You Missed It
- Another Grinder(s) Qualifies – The $535 FanDuel qualifier ran last night, and it came down to the wire, with three Grinders sitting in the top three spots. In the end Posey’s first inning homer was enough to put ehafner over the top and take the whole thing down. A big congrats to him, as well as McJester, TommyG, and Dinkpiece for rounding out the top 5. In the DraftKings Baseball Championship qualifier, bw5126 took the whole thing down with big games form Salty and Tulo, who might be swinging the hottest bat in the Major Leagues right now. It seems like bw5126 is a part of Grinder nation, but he’s only registered with DraftStreet, so a big shout out to him! In the first DSBC Qualifier, OrangeTang won the whole thing by a pretty decent margin. He isn’t a grinder, but he finished 7 points ahead of the second place winner, which is pretty impressive, so congrats to him as well.
- Sterling Banned For Life – At 2PM yesterday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced that the Clippers owner would face a lifetime ban from any association with the NBA. As you can see in today’s gif, there was much rejoicing. Personally, I thought it would have been more fitting to tell him that he would be allowed to have sex with the players, as long as he didn’t come to their games the next day, but hey, that’s just me. While his comments were absolutely disgusting and I’m glad he’s gone, it does raise an interesting conversation about what exactly can cause an owner to lose his franchise. But in the end, the NBA is a business and they have every right to protect their brand. I tip my cap to the new commish for layin’ down one of my favorite tools as an RG moderator….THE BAN HAMMER.
Today’s Events
- Tonight’s Action – All 30 teams will take to the field in the Major Leagues today, but the first two games (Brewers
Cardinals and TigersWhite Sox) will be played in the early afternoon. One can only hope that the weather holds up better than the Miley Cyrus-esque disaster we saw last night. Theworld’s most drawn outNBA Playoffs continue tonight with another three game slate that includes two series’ tied at 2 games. The only team that is able to advance with a win tonight is the Trail Blazers as they take on the Houston Rockets on the road. There should be some exciting playoff hockey tonight, as all three games on the schedule are in Game 7. Flyers/Rangers, Wild/Avalance, and Kings/Sharks will all wrap up their series’ tonight in a winner take all fight to the finish.
- Today’s GPP’s – FanDuel and DraftKings are each rolling out a version of their respective $200 buy in GPPs tonight. FanDuel is running a $125k Monster with $20k to first, while DraftKing’s version is the $100k Perfect Game, which awards $25K to first place. FanDuel also has another DFBC Qualifier running tonight at the $270 level. The higher buy in games tend to fill rather quickly (I believe last night’s filled at least 2 hours before game time) so keep that in mind if you plan on playing. Finally, DraftStreet is running their second DSBC Qualifier tonight at a buy in of $109.
