Rise & Grind: Friday, March 6th

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we sort through the yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.

In Case You Missed It

Victiv Freeroll – Can you accurately predict the top three scorers in NBA DFS tonight? If so, you should join the Victiv forum contest at this link. rules are simple, list your three guesses in order from highest to lowest. If you get them right, you can win prizes based on your accuracy. Priority will be given to people who guessed first. You also must have a Victiv account prior to NBA lock. If you don’t already have an account, use the RotoGrinders link in the thread and receive three free tickets to play Victron and win up to $30 in free money.

Otto Porter – Russell Westbrook disappointed everyone with only 62.1 FanDuel points last night. We all knew that was coming though. The guy can’t score over 70 every night. 62.1 is barely 5x value. We can pretty much get 5x from anyone. The big story last night was Otto Porter and his defense on Otto-pilot. See what I did there? Aye? Aye? Pretty funny huh? Okay, maybe not. If you can do better, give me your best Otto Porter joke about this clip in the comments. What do you suppose he was thinking? Oh man, 25 seconds left. I’m so excited coach trusts me in this moment. Don’t screw this up Otto. Wait, am I suppose to be doing something? Oh shoot, where did Snell go? In Otto’s defense, well actually lack of defense, I think someone unplugged his controller.

Big Winners – Last night, there were so many big winners. I mean that literally. Three people tied for first in the Swat. Four people had that same lineup in the Shot for a second place finish, and in the Slam 50 people tied for second. While someone will inevitability start a lineup sharing forum thread, we can probably attribute last night’s results to the lack of options on a two-game slate. The one Grinder I saw who didn’t share his winnings was 00_Oreo_00, who took first in the Slam. Feel free to grab one of 00’s H2Hs to congratulate him. They are right there at the top on FanDuel. For the full list of tournament links check this forum thread.

A-Rod Returns – If I’m being honest, this item exists solely to mention that MLB starts in less than a month. On Wednesday, Alex Rodriguez returned to field for the first time in nearly two years. “A-Rod” as he is known, hit a single. The New York post couldn’t help but poke a little fun at the guy every Yankees fan loves to hate. They ran this headline claiming the single would have been a home run if he were still on the juice. I don’t have a problem with the NY Post having a little fun, but I wish they would have used the right verbiage. Home runs are known as “dongs” around here. All season long you can look forward to a recap of the longest dongs from the night before in this space. Hurry up, baseball season.

On The Menu

NBA ActionIt’s Friday! Everybody gotta get down on Friday. I hope you didn’t just click on that link. If you did, Rebecca Black is going to be stuck in your head all day. I apologize for sending you to that YouTube video. Try this link instead. It should take you to Notorious’ First Look. With 12 games on the schedule, we won’t be lacking quality options. Tonight also has the added benefit of being a non-Westbrook slate. That is always a good thing since it opens up an extra roster spot. Be on the lookout for some excellent content here at RotoGrinders. We will have all the usual offerings, including the NBA Grind Down, Starting Five,
GPP Plays and the Six-Pack.

#NarrativeStreet – While the pieces I just mentioned are great places to find advice, they don’t offer the picks with a little extra motivation. Here is a look at tonight’s picks to click based on narratives. Marcus Smart has a #BirthdayGame. There is no #BobbleheadNight tonight, but the Warriors are giving away a David Lee cheer card. That has to be worth something, right? If it is #revenge you seek, look no further than Marc Gasol against the Lakers. Do you remember when they drafted him and then traded him for his older brother? It doesn’t matter if you do. He remembers, and he wants revenge tonight.

NHL Tonight – The NHL offers a larger than normal six-game slate tonight. Usually on Friday we only get 3-4 games. You can enjoy this gift from the NHL schedule gods by getting some GPP action in tonight. FanDuel has over $50K in guarantees, while DraftKings checks in with about the same amount plus some last chance qualifiers for tomorrow’s Micro Millions Main Event. NHL expert Pepsi7 has you covered today with his NHL Daily Plays. You can also weigh in over on the forums in our Daily NHL Thread.

GrindersLive – With a 13-game slate on tap, RotoGrinders is pulling out all the experts. Starting at 3:30 EST on GrindersLive, you can catch BritDevine and DraftCheat. They will be followed by CrazyGabey and Hoop2410 at 4:30 and then Dean78904 and Al_Smizzle at 5:30. You can also catch DB730 and Beermakersfan on SiriusXM at 6:00. Once NBA locks for the night, you can switch your focus to CBB tomorrow. STLCardinals84 will join Varncass at 8:00 to preview the CBB slate. After you finish watching all of those shows, you really should go to www.podcastawards.com and vote for GrindersLive in the category of Best Video Podcast. In fact, you can even do it before you watch the shows. Go do it now.
