Rise & Grind: June 16th, 2014
Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off on the right foot with yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the the upcoming day in the world of DFS.
So kick back, grab your first cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest news!
In Case You Missed It
- Mystery Lasagna – The DraftStreet Heavy Hitters bracket wrapped up on Friday night when relatively unknown (until now) player Vegetable_Lasagna completed his 4 game sweep of one of the best DFS MLB players in the game, BirdWings. In fact, over the entire series, VL went an incredible 12-1 overall, and had a very difficult road taking down maxdalury, headchopper, g123, and BirdWings along the way. He lost one game to g123 in the semi-finals, but swept everything else, and these guys are no joke. If anyone has any idea who this guy is, leave a comment below because we’d love to learn more about him. I haven’t spoken to him about it, but I bet Dan Back would love to get an interview with him too. I know I’d listen.
- Weekend Winners – A couple other Grinders had some pretty big weekends as well. Friday night the legend himself, McJester took down the $535 DFBC Qualifier for (another? I can’t remember) seat to the Vegas finals for a shot at a million. And then yesterday, BirdWings took down the DraftKings Perfect Game while our own BillsFan777 took down the Payoff Pitch. Another good wekend for Grinders Nation!
- Spurs Finish the Heat – The Spurs finished their absolutely dominating performance in the NBA Finals last night. After starting off the series rather slowly, Tim Duncan and the Spurs absolutely embarassed the two time defending NBA champions in three consecutive blowout wins, two of which were in Miami. The arguments about LeBron’s greatness are destined to go on forever, but it’s hard to argue that the Spurs aren’t one of the best franchises in NBA history. 5 championships is nothing to sneeze at, and this group is the only one to have ever done it. Kawhi Leonard took home the MVP, and boy was it well deserved. In games 3-5, he shot an impressive 58% for 3-point range and led the team in scoring all three games. On top of his offensive surge, Kawhi stepped up his defense on LeBron, and made it very difficult for the King to get off his shots like he normally would to take over a game.
Today’s Events
- Tonight’s Action – The World Cup action continues today, including the first US game against Ghana at 5:30 EST. Now that the NBA Finals are over, maybe people will actually pay attention (Probably not though)! There is an 11 game schedule in the MLB this evening, starting with Weaver and the Angels facing off against the Indiance in Cleveland. 11 games seems like a decent schedule for some good DFS action, and there should be plenty tonight with a lot of big GPPs and the continuation of some of the survivor/Grind games.
Today’s GPPs
Here’s a quick snapshot of some of the biggest games out there. Here’s hoping that tonight you find yourself Cruzin’ To Victory!
