Rise & Grind: Tuesday, February 10th

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we run over yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.

In Case You Missed It

Hawes it going? – Mornin’ Grinders, it’s another beautiful day today. Last night in the association, we had so many value options. It was quite easy building a team when we had guys like Hawes, McGary, Gallinari, Ajinca, and Scola to choose from. I mean, why are those guys so cheap? Oh, they are cheap because they are replacement players who aren’t very good. Oh well, it could have been worse. You could have said something like, “If Perkins outscores Hawes I will eat my hat live on Twitter.” No one would make such a bold proclamation though, would they?

Well alrighty, DraftCheat. How’s (Hawes?) that bet looking? By my count, Perkins had 6.9 FPs and Hawes had 6.7. Make sure to follow @draftcheat on Twitter for a hat eating today. It should be way more fun to watch than the effort Hawes gave us last night.

Notable Wins – While that hat sounds delicious, I prefer the taste of victory. Check out the links in the forums here to find some Grinders who actually made winning bets. Just to name a few, ChadPol5 won the $1K WFBC Qualifier on DraftKings, while STLCardinals84 took second and fifth in the 3-Ball. Be sure to check the link for other standout names, and give them a tip of the ol’ cap, assuming you aren’t eating yours as well.

Narratives Never Lie – Last night on Narrative Street, things were a bit quiet. George Hill was seeking #Revenge for a draft day trade that sent him to the Pacers for the pick that became Kawhi Leonard. Hill isn’t really a #Revenge kind of guy though, so he just posted a meager 20 fantasy points. Marcin Gortat is about that revenge though, as he posted 35.3 fantasy points against his former team. On the #BirthdayGame front, K.J. McDaniels was a disappointment with only 10.9 fantasy points. So, maybe the Narratives didn’t work yesterday, but it’s not like your method of picking bench players for $3500 worked either.

On the Menu Today

Are You Ready for Some Futbol? – With four games scheduled in the English Premier League (EPL), you will be kicking yourself if you don’t get in some soccer action. DraftKings has several GPPs kicking off at 2 PM EST. Our very own Hambazza would like to assist if your goal is to win money. That’s an awful lot of soccer puns for one paragraph. That joke just flopped. Seriously, just read the EPL Daily Plays. I got nil here.

On the Hardwood – Tonight is the second to last NBA slate until a week from Thursday. Even though this five-game slate doesn’t look appetizing at first glance, it still goes down easier than a sweaty old ball cap. Notorious has already posted his First Look. Since he wears multiple hats around here, he will also be providing an in-depth look at all games in the NBA Grind Down. Also, be on the lookout for the NBA Starting Five. This slate seriously isn’t that bad. We have three of five games with a spread under two. Come Friday, you are going to be reminiscing about the good old days of NBA DFS. Also, this slate has an added bonus of not including anyone named Hawes, McGary, Scola, or Ajinca.

#Narrative Street – The pickings are a bit slim on Narrative Street tonight. Zaza Pachulia, Jeff Adrien, and Paul Millsap have birthdays, but none of them play tonight. Goran Dragic was at one point a Houston Rocket, so he gets the #RevengeGame bump by default. I can’t get behind that though. Lucky for me, the idea of Narrative Street is that we assign a narrative that may not actually exist. Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to present, the #BoogieDoesn’tLikeThePossibleNewCoach narrative. DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins hasn’t been happy since the Kings fired Mike Malone without letting him know in advance. Now rumors are swirling that the Kings are close to hiring George Karl. Allow me to present my case with this photo:

Does Boogie look happy in that photo to you? I didn’t think so. Fire him up in all formats tonight as he tries to impose his will on the Bulls and save interim coach Tyrone Corbin’s job.

On the Ice – With nine games on the schedule, I know you puckheads are excited. The Rise and Grind has adopted Dustin Byfuglien as its favorite hockey player. If the Winnipeg Jets are playing, Byfuglien is on my roster. On a side note, buh-foo-glien is not how you pronounce his name, but that’s how I say it. When he scores a goal tonight (and he will), I will be yelling “buh-fooooooooooo-glien gooooooooalllllllllll” in my living room. You might as well join me in some NHL DFS. Even if you don’t like Byfuglien, RotoGrinders will have some other recommendations up today. Boggslite has you covered with his NHL Daily Plays and Pepsi7 will be writing NHL GPP Plays and also delivering his Frozen Five. Both Boggs and Pepsi will also be on the Daily Fantasy Face off this Afternoon at 3:30 PM on GrindersLive.

NBA GrindersLive – Speaking of GrindersLive, after the NHL show at 3:30, we will be tipping off two hours of NBA analysis. DraftCheat was originally scheduled to be on, but he is now doubtful with an injured trachea. That’s okay though, we love injury replacements around here. CrazyGabey will join Adam Levitan at 4:30 and then Dean78904 will join Hoop2410 at 5:30. I would be willing to bet both shows exceed your value expectations, or I will eat my hat.
