Rise & Grind: Tuesday, January 27th
Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we run over yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.
In Case You Missed it
NBA DFS is Back – Sure, NBA DFS technically started in November, but we all know NBA DFS hasn’t really begun until two games get cancelled and a highly owned player gets scratched right before lock. Like most Grinders, last night reminded me that I cannot wait until MLB starts, at which point I can’t wait until NFL starts, because then NBA will be starting soon. I’m convinced that whatever sport starts next is the one I’m best at. You know, until that sport actually starts.
Russell Worstbrook – The good news about Kevin Durant getting scratched is that we all got a chance to play Russell Westbrook. When I saw Durant was scratched, I put Westbrook on 100% of my teams. I haven’t even looked yet, but I’m sure I won everything. Westbrook’s floor is 50 without Durant. What did he get last night anyways? Let me go check. Oh my god, 25.4 FanDuel points? What the what? Okay, NBA DFS has officially begun. Did anyone do well last night?
FantasySultan Slam! – Congratulations to Grinder FantasySultan for taking down the FanDuel Slam with a score of 311.7. I have always said my biggest mistake in DFS was not starting with a super confident screen name like “TheChampIsHere.” Instead, I’m just sethayates. Good on FantasySultan though for having confidence when he created his account. You truly are the Fantasy Sultan, at least for a day.
Micro Stakes Results – First off, thank you to everyone who participated in yesterday’s micro-stakes championship, which I dubbed the “Mini-McJester”. Unfortunately, I do not have the results for everyone, so I can’t officially crown a champion. I can unequivocally say that I am not that champion though. Apparently, Russell Westbrook on 100% of my teams was not the way to go in multi-entry. Let’s just say mistakes were made. Feel free to comment below with your results. I only placed with one of 20 lineups. I’m sure you did better than that, right?
On the Menu Today
Hockey is Back – After a five-day break, DFS returns to the ice tonight with a juicy 11-game slate. There are several large GPPs on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Both sites are also running qualifiers for their live finals. You can qualify for the Vegas trip on FanDuel for only $2. The DraftKings qualifier is also priced very reasonably at only $12. Should you decide to play NHL tonight, we have you covered here at RotoGrinders. boggslite will bring you his NHL Daily Plays, while Pepsi7 has you covered with NHL GPP Plays and the Frozen 5.
Tonight’s NBA Action – Last night, NBA DFS pretty much clotheslined me just like the guy in that hockey clip. Hopefully your results were better. If not, that is okay, since we have six games on the menu for tonight. Notorious has you covered with his First Look. I also took a quick look. At first glance, I know you are going to want to get D.J. Augustin in all your teams. We both know you love chasing those 50-burgers. If you are looking for other options besides Augustin, Notorious will be taking a detailed look at every game in his NBA Grind Down, and a25smith has you covered with his Starting Five.
Tonight’s CBB Action – Conference play continues in college basketball with a very attractive 10-game slate. DraftKings and FanDuel both have decent sized GPPs in the lobby, but they are filling fast. Go ahead and reserve your action now, and check back later for Varncass’ expert picks for incentives members.
