Rise & Grind: Wednesday, February 4th

Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off right here, as we go over yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the upcoming DFS day.

In Case You Missed It

Top billing goes to the RotoGrinders Community – One thing that I love about our community more than anything else is its ability to rally around a cause and make change happen. Often times it’s over relatively trivial things, like the decisions that a site makes regarding its live finals formats. But sometimes it’s concerning very important things, such as when one of our own has had a turn of bad luck and needs our moral and emotional support. Yesterday, Stevie posted a thread in the forums that hit home for me a little bit. Fellow Grinder @BuffloSoldier (Aris) and his wife are dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis and the RG community has rallied behind them and have so far collected upwards of $6,000 as of this morning. I believe I will not be wrong when I say that cancer has hit almost every family, and you will struggle to find somebody who hasn’t been bit by the nasty disease. So, even if you can’t afford to throw a couple of bucks into the donation hat, a simple “Stay Strong” will be more than enough to keep this family’s spirits up. Also, if you do donate, we’re throwing in some RG swag. Check out the forum post to learn more.

There were some NBA games last night – About five of them to be exact, but really, they were only about 3.5 if you exclude the blowouts. I mean, I’m with DMC, if your team is losing badly, what’s the point in even playing defense? While Cousins and the Kings had a bad night, there were some people who had a great night around the industry, starting with Schmoe330, who managed to secure himself a ticket to the WFBBC by finishing first in the $25 qualifier. The good news is he also came in second in the Slam and won a cool $15K. Not a bad night. Also having a good night was RotoGrinders member mirage88, who qualified to the FanDuel Live Hockey Final. Over on DraftKings, million dollar winners Troll4MVP managed to punch their ticket to the FBWC and another shot at $1 million. Congrats to all.

#NarrativeStreet – Here at RotoGrinders, we like to review the Narrative Street from the night before and look for potential #NS from tonight. Last night the Kings were supposed to be big winners, as they were embarrassed by the Warriors last time these two teams met, but we all know that didn’t play out very well. The Nuggets apparently quit on their coach, which led to Brian Shaw saying things like this. Wesley Matthews had a revenge game, which turned out fairly well. Tonight, watch out for Lavoy Allen and his birthday celebration, the Monta Ellis revenge game (seven years in the making), D.J. Augustin (he’s coming off a monster game too), and many more! I’ll post about them on Twitter as I find them throughout the day!

What to Watch For on the Grinders Menu

We have a HUGE NBA slate tonight that will feature 11 games, none more intriguing to me than the Dallas Mavericks facing the Golden State Warriors. I highly recommend taking all the Mavs (homer call). If you want to get some non-homer calls, I suggest you follow some of the brightest minds in the industry and check out Notorious’ First Look, and a little later he’ll have the Grind Down released. Also on the docket we will be getting Hoop2410’s Top GPP Plays and @STLCardinals84 will break down out of our research tools in the Starting Five

On the ice, it’s a smaller slate today, but we didn’t forget about you. @jmbwngfn has you covered with his NHL Daily Plays for tonight’s three-game slate.

We will have some college basketball though, as there are 14 games on the menu today. So, be sure to check out our College Basketball Grind Down later this afternoon to get your research started.

Tiger ain’t got nothing on us when it comes to Golf Coverage. FSWA Award winner Gibbathy is back with another golf preview, this time for the Farmers Insurance Open. If that’s not enough, Notorious already has his picks up too, so be sure to check both of those out and get to lineup building.

GrindersLive

Let’s say you’re more of a visual learner, or even want to do your research while running on the treadmill or don’t have time to read all the great content we have here at RotoGrinders. If that’s the case, maybe, just maybe, some of our media offerings will be right up your alley!

Beer’s Daily Six Pack – Chris “Beermakersfan” Prince comes at us with a six pack to quench all thirsts, as he breaks down his top six plays of the night. Make sure to listen to the end to check out his “Beast of the Night”.

Daily Fantasy Fix Podcast – Dan Back is back to the podcast today and he’ll be breaking down the HUGE NBA slate, so make sure to give it a listen, as he offers some great hoops advice.

The 3:30PM Afternoon Grind with Brit and Hoop2410 gets us started on three hours of GrindersLive talk, where they try to analyze the slate and break down the top plays.

4:30 PM Daily Fantasy Happy Hour – Get bearded with today’s daily fantasy happy hour with Crazy Gabey and Rad Thad. Check out Gabey’s Tinder experiment, as he tries to navigate the perils of being married and trying to do his job as a RG host, without jeopardizing either.

5:30 PM Grinders Live – Dean and Al close out the third hour with a run down of NBA injuries, top plays and a breakdown of each and every game. Be sure to watch this one to the end, as we anticipate any gongs that may alter strategy this evening.

6:00 PM Sirius XM – Dan Back and Chris Prince hop in the car with you on your ride home as they take in calls, break down the slate and give their top plays of the day right up to lineup lock. Be sure to check them out on Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio.

That is all folks, if you can think of any Narrative Street scenarios for today make sure to post them in the comments so we can shine a light on them tomorrow.
