RRT & Grind: Passing the Torch
It seems like it was just a few short months ago that I took over the Rise & Grind from the legendary DillingerFour when he accepted his role at FanDuel. Oh wait, it was just a few short months ago! Well, today my short stint of being part of your morning routine has come to an end.
A few weeks ago, I accepted a full time position at RG as the Product Coordinator, or as Cam so lovingly put it, the “Polisher of Tools”. I will be maintaining and developing new Daily Research tools, so if you ever have any ideas or suggestions for a new tool, don’t hesitate to reach out. Soon I’ll be moving to Nashville to join the rest of the RG team, and saying I’m unbelievably excited doesn’t even begin to explain it.
With that in mind, I decided that this article in combination would be too much to try and juggle at once. So, we decided to find a successor worthy of the article that’s everyone’s favorite way to start the day. Enter rrt7573. That’s right, your favorite forum gif-master will be taking over the R&G starting on Monday, so make sure to give him a warm welcome!
But enough of all that, it’s time to kick back, grab your first cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest news!
In Case You Missed It
- Washington Trademark Rejected – This actually happened on Wednesday, but I didn’t hear about it until after I posted the R&G yesterday. The US Patent office rejected the trademark for the Washington Redskins recently due to increasing protests of the name that some believe is offensive. Washington’s owner, Daniel Snyder remains stout in his determination to keep the name, but it has become even more of a hot topic debate recently, with some even claiming that the “nickname” was actually invented my Native Americans and isn’t derogatory at all. This subject has come up many times in the past, but it seems to be getting more buzz now so it should be interesting to see how the team reacts.
- England Near Elimination – After England’s heart-breaking 2-1 loss to Uruguay yesterday, one would think that their tournament was over since dropping their first two matches. Yet there is still a slim chance that they could advance, assuming a lot of things go their way. All they have to do is beat Costa Rica next week, hope that Italy beats Costa Rica today, hope that Italy beats Uruguay next week, and win the tie breaker. So essentially what I’m saying here is there’s a chance!
Today’s Events
- Tonight’s Action – There are 15 games on the slate today in the MLB, one of which, Pirates/Cubs, starts early at 4:05 p.m. If you want to play players from that game, it seems like DraftKings is the only site running contests that include it, so take a look over there. For the rest of us, there is plenty of money to be won during the 14 game slate that starts after 7. There are also three more games of World Cup action going on today, starting off with a Group D match between Italy and Costa Rica at noon. Then, Group E play continues with matches between Sitzerland and France as well as Honduras and Ecuador.
Today’s GPPs
Here’s a quick snapshot of some of the biggest games out there. Here’s hoping that tonight you find yourself Cruzin’ To Victory!
