The Field Report: Week 12
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!
When FanDuel finally began hiding ownership percentages in Week 8, it appeared that the Field Report would be no more. However, there is a loophole with this that differs from the way DraftKings hides ownership levels; since FanDuel is not a late-swap site, they display ownership percentages for players you’ve rostered, regardless of whether or not that players game has started yet. DraftKings doesn’t have the capability to do this, since roster moves can be made seconds before a particular players game starts (which causes ownership percentages to fluctuate throughout the day/night). While this report will be slightly different from the early season version, I think it’s actually more useful this way. Feel free to weigh in via the comments section!
For the second edition of Field Report 2.0, I’ve entered 15 lineups into the $2500 Thurs NFL Dive #7 ($1 buy-in GPP with 2873 entries) and attempted to target each player I thought was relevant heading into the weekend. Instead of simply listing players owned by at least 5% of the field, you’ll see the ownership levels for each and every player in any of those 15 lineups. I entered some wacky teams into this tournament for the sake of gathering this data, so just because a player is listed here doesn’t mean he’s someone I’ll be targeting in GPPs come Sunday morning. For anyone who is interested, here’s a link to the tournament I’ve used for this week’s article.
I’ve bumped it down to 15 lineups from the 20 we used last week since I felt I had exposure to the large majority of players I felt were viable Week 12 options. The number of teams I enter week-to-week will be dependent upon that, but likely won’t fluctuate much from the 15-20 range. Just as a disclaimer, the ownership percentages shown here won’t be as high compared to any of the early season Field Reports. I was entering smaller tournaments (those with 100-200 entries), which can inflate those totals a bit. With a larger field, there is a much wider range of player exposure.
