The Field Report: Week 8

The field report is designed to give you a look into the most popular FanDuel plays from Thursday Night games. In order to truly separate your entry from the rest of the field, you need to create a unique roster. In GPPs especially, playing along with the rest of your opponents will typically not get you anywhere. The rules are much different in H2Hs and 50/50s, but in tournaments where you need to beat ALL of your opponents (e.g. major qualifiers), you need to take risks and go off-the-radar with a few plays.

The percentages below will give you an idea of how popular each player was in contests which began on Thursday. We must take into account that many players overexpose themselves to the Thursday Night game, so the actual percentages for the players listed below will be on average higher than what is listed here come Sunday afternoon.

In order to get these percentages, I entered two Fanduel $10 Thursday 100-man tournaments and averaged the percentage owned between the two leagues. The players aren’t listed with the ownership percentage, but they are listed in order from most popular to least popular in the tables below. It’s not a perfect formula, but it should give us a good idea of the popularity of players at this point in the week.

Before we get into the Week 8 breakdown, I wanted to note that I won’t be including players from the Detroit/Atlanta game in this breakdown. Although the game is played on Sunday, it’s an incredibly early start and isn’t included in Sunday slates on either FanDuel or DraftKings. Matt Prater was the most highly owned kicker in Thursday contests (he has a huge leg and was $4500 in a match-up with the Falcons, so it makes sense), so the ownership percentage on the kickers below will likely be much higher come Sunday. Golden Tate (and Joique Bell to a lesser extent) were also popular plays. I doubt I have to tell any of you that the players from the Denver/San Diego game were highly owned, but the percentages weren’t too much different compared to what we typically see with Thursday players.
